Kolgol smiled broadly as he stepped briskly through the narrow passageway. He was walking deep below the earth, in the tunnels that had recently been dug below Mt Rhug. They were a labyrinthine mass of inter-webbing holes, some ending sharply, others simply sloping off seemingly interminably. The part he was in was amongst the deepest sections, so deep that most did not venture here. This section was under Lake Ruil itself. It was extremely dangerous at best, as many efforts to dig further had been thwarted by rushing waters and collapsing tunnels. However, this place held no fear for Kolgol, as he felt the directions of the passages through his leyas. Finally he arrived at his destination, a large cave whose roof sloped upward into a mass of stalactites near the ceiling. The water dripping from the roof paired with the volcanic heat from below created a rather unique weather condition, a heavy sort of fog that hung heavily in the room. In the center of the cave, several olgogs worked frenziedly away at two roughly humanoid forms with stone chisels. The forms rose out of the center of the room, twin massive silhouettes made out of a combination of several volcanic rocks, obsidian, granite, basalt and such. The figures looked human, but distorted, with thick torsos and brawny arms, while stocky legs supported the overall frames. The heads were the most striking part, resembling weathered skulls with a pair of spiked hornlike protrusions sprouting from the top. Most notable were the facial features, deep pits of eyes and gaping maws that seemed to recess into the very center of its body. Each stood just over twenty feet tall, give or take a few inches. Kolgol smiled and gestured to his friend and fellow cohort “The Auf” who stepped out of the dark tunnels to view the spectacle.
“So what do you think my friend? Are the new golems truly as intimidating as you’d hoped? Our Balgogs will truly strike fear into the hearts of our enemies…”
He cracked his knuckles and prepared for the part ahead. He had the skills necessary to implant a spirit of fire into each, but had little idea as to what powers to give them. For this he relied on “The Auf”, who had devoted more time to arcane studies and less to delving in the earth.
