The Inheritance of Protodoxa (Connecticon Special Live Event) Week 9

#1

There was once a beautiful Oasis which was called home by Protodoxa during his many years of wandering after the K’ias Wars. He claims this land in every way possible, to every tribal tradition for a chieftain claiming a section of land for his tribe. Olgog tribes don’t believe in individual ownership of land, a tribe claims a piece of land for their own use in Unen, Brez and Tla’loc’al. They use it communally for that tribe, and allow animals to flow between their lands without border so migration is not disrupted.

On the migration routes between Unen and Karov there was this Oasis called by many names. When Protodoxa rose again, at the healing hand of The Auf of Ol’Lur, he sent runners to find his last descendants. He had hoped they would join together, gathering the nearby Feral tribes into a coalition which could counter the marching armies of Earthers. At the very least, he hoped they would create a place of peace out in the desert now that the Oasis of the Great Uf had become a warzone.

Few of Protodoxa’s bloodline survived the ages, but some had and a few of these returned from the Earther Colonies to the Goblin Lands.
By way of Brezan bloodline there was Lok Rapi who was more commonly called King Kitty. She was a bruiser of an Olgog female, able to pummel her opponents into submission without breaking a sweat.

At her side was Gor’ab Auf Uf, who had learned much of the Earther ways in the colonies. He had been a hunter of criminals, and a believer in the wisdom of the ancients. When he learned of the great call to claim the Oasis, he was overjoyed hoping the goodly Karovian ways might spread to new tribes.

Their party was lead by Captain Kol Rapi, of the bloodline of Protodoxa by way of Unen. A former pirate, he helped them navigate the docks of that port city when they arrived.

And Dol Hob the hunter, a Mak’ab of esteem from Karov who had been a guest speaker at the Academia of Chooru in their anthropology department. Despite living in the colonial capital he had never forgotten the old ways.

The four came south by boat, fighting off Church of One Pirates seeking to steal the boat’s cargo of gold from Dusk. The ship they traveled on barely survived the fight, drifting to shore along the Coast of Mak. The tropical beaches provided sustainance for the crew while the four traveled south on foot and stalker-back. Along the way they saw the dangerous sights of the desert.

The Mighty Yadol, the raiders and the slavers who were called Goblins by both sides of the border, and the deadly sands themselves. They ran into Lucasa the leader of a splinter gang of the Hateful Word. Lucasa had been kicked out with his four “squires” of the Gang of the Hateful Word when he questioned their leader’s decisions. Wandering the desert on Brezan Stalkers they needed a good raid to put food in their bellies. Kitty smashed in Lucasa’s face with one swing of her mace-fist and the four vandals accompanying him immediately switched sides in typical Brezan fashion.

With their new steeds and drivers, the four of the bloodline reached Port Unen.
Once there they used some stolen gold to barter for the supplies they needed. At the Tlana’ru Tavern they connected with some wood shapers who could rebuild the ship they left at the coast. They also learned which stalls to hit for various goods in town.
With a mated pair of fertile Mak Hoblok loaded with supplies, and some Olgog street children in tow, they set back out into the desert.

It took them days of long travel across the sands of the desert, and under the hot sun. They grew to learn more about each other in this days, than they had in the years they had lived within blocks of each other in Chooru.

When they reached the beautiful Oasis, they named it Al’ya. They set the Mak Hoblok to graze, and set the children to begin weaving together the hearty grasses into furniture and walls for homes. Thus did it start in peaceful oneness with the land.

#3

It was at this point that their decision to stay united may have hampered their cause. They left the animals and the children to their tasks, and the four traveled North to seek to scout the nearest town.
It was the town called Jamesville, and they made a lightning raid into the town. Before being driven from the town by a Strider, they had executed two Red bishops and stole their weapons.

Bringing the technology and metal armor back south, they found the Oasis of Al’ya beautiful. They settled into days of relief and plenty with the water and the fruits that grew near the water.

Finally they decided it was time to travel once more to Port Unen and buy more materials to build on these lands. Leaving Captain Kol Rapi and Dol Hob the Mak’ab to watch over the children, the others left the Oasis of Al’ya to make some trades in Unen.

Days passed and Captain Kol Rapi and Dol Hob spoke with the children of their memories from their old lives. There were now tents and huts representing each of the tribal associations of the four who had claimed the Oasis of Al’ya for the new Al’ya Tribe.

Then the morning arrived when the raiders came. In succession day after day, the pair found their camp flooded with refugees heading south from a place called Thomasville. The great siege at Thomasville had been broken. Many allied tribes had returned with the GNA, other fled south to Unen with the OtO, but others were just wandering the desert trying to find a way home.
Ur King Tribals, Gor’abs, and Pit Mongrels all found themselves wandering together fighting off attack by Raider clans.
Captain Kol Rapi watched in horror as infighting between the refugees burned the entire Oasis of AL’ya to to sand. They drove off one raider group after another, but there was no longer anything to protect.
With sadness in his heart he gathered up the children and the Mak Hoblok and set out to try and find the rest of his fellow inheritors to discuss what was to be done next.

#5

Seeing that the Oasis they had fought for had been destroyed, a handful of Karovians and Tla’loc’alan Tribals came together and began turning the sands to stone. They found the root of the Oasis and formed it using the Leyas into a wider reservoir with stone service tanks and aqueducts bringing the water around the structure they were building.

When Captain Kol Rapi returned to the Oasis he did not find the burnt out ruin he had left. Instead he found a beautiful fortress of shaped sandstone, which towered over the valley that surrounded it. Its highest towers could see for miles around.

He approached the builders and together they rejoiced at the new fortress. They decided on what to do next, but were interrupted as talk of more refugees coming south from Thomasville, including the royal tribe of Mag’ol MagDol of the Shattered Sun. They were followed by the Crusaders of the Church of One, hoping to skin and slay some “goblins” to prove their own devotion to god.

Shoring up their defenses and crafting canoes which levitated so they might hold the high ground, the defenders of the Fortress Hob Rhug Dol prepared for a lengthy siege. Instead it was Captain Kol Rapi and Mag Ka’ab who lead an attack by air on the crusader column.
As they did the crusaders were flanked by the Brezan, King Og-gog, who rode a giant armored Ku’elo into battle. The giant primate hurled armored knights from their horses, while King Og-gog beheaded any knights who dared to charge his monstrous mount.

With the Church of Oners pushed back, the Fortress of Hob Rhug Dol was once again mired in political intrigue. King Kitty and Gor’ab Auf Uf had returned from their raids on enemies to find their peaceful natural Oasis replaced by a mighty fortress. They were none-too-happy. Their demands led to others to question, and a need was decided for a ruling council.

It was decided that the first four whose bloodline was promised this land would be on the council, King Kitty, Gor’ab Auf Uf, Captain Kol Rapi, Mak’ab Dol Hob, for their passion set the sands in motion which created this new kingdom. Then another two were chosen as they had actively led the building of this fortress, Mak’ab Gol’ab and Mak’ab Mag Ka’ab. And so it came upon the last two seats on the council.

The Gor’abs demanded that Mag’ol MagDol of the Shattered Sun be given the rights of council as he was of the old bloodline of kings. All supported this, for the Mag’ol Magdol had fought valiantly in defense of Fortress Hob Rhug Dol.

Next was offered up General Kamo’Tla of the Ur Kings. While she was charismatic and a powerful mancer, she had no desire to be a council member when she saw the hatred many of the tribes leveled at her own Krato allies. But her bravery of stepping forward in the first place, convinced General Kol’og of the Ur King tribals that they should be considered a part of the council. He stood up and claimed the right. He based it on his extensive work building the fortress Hob Rhug Dol.

Seeing that the Ur King tribals might manipulate the council to side with the Krato, King Og-gog would not allow it without a challenge.

It was a mighty battle. Three rounds of powerful Leyas which they unleashed upon each other. Both fought honorably and bravely, and General Kol’og could not have chosen a better opponent. Yet in the end General Kol’og won, and was granted a place on the council.

King Og-gog became the keep’s champion known for his giant armored Kuelo mount.

And it was lucky this occurred when it did for a larger force was sent from Dunesphere to crush the nascent Al’ya tribal confederation (AtC). One thousand paladins, their squires, baggage trains and support artillery. And in the middle of the season of Auf Kol, the Al’ya brought down upon that mighty army a Der’na of frightful power.

The flamewinds swept in and consumed the paladins at their stations, melted gear, and cooked horseflesh into charcoal.

While they face this threat from afar, another threat attacked from above. The bruskti family of the Bloody Carvers were seeking to feed on the Fortress Hob Rhug Dol from hidden airships in a thunder storm. King Kitty of AL’ya and Gor’na the Pit Mongrel led the attacks into the sky.
With the forces of Hob Rhug Dol united they drove off one, took down the second Bruskti Airship and captured the third.

They learned the Bloody Carvers had been denied access to all Bruskti feeding events after rumors they turned on the Mag Buskt spread across Unen. The Bloody Carvers claimed their innocence but they had been driven inland by those who call them betrayers. Now they were forced to hunt in the nearby skies.
