Goblin Lands UTR Turning Point Mission Week 15: To Gang or Not to Gang

#1

To Shirley’s confusion, King Blood’og heard of the problems and of the five gangs he crushed and brought to heel through terrorism he sent another hundred smaller Olgogs to help them form a second more secure farm north of Brez. Both Gulor and Shirley were happy blood shed had been averted but what was happening in Brez proper concerned them both. Urik’s words had been clear, send gogs to work the land, get a share of the food grown. There were no Earther legalese about what the tribe used the food for in the end. And Brez had no laws, and therefore the act of the Mak’laltor was not technically illegal. (though many said it very unbrezan. Some of the weaker tribes started using a dedicated poison taster to make sure the food was safe. The strongest tribes though often struggled with pride…)

With another farm of the size proposed by King Blood’og they could reach food production for tens of thousands of gogs. Then a third and forth would allow hundreds of thousands of gogs to be fed.
As Gulor extrapolated the numbers he realized with the oncoming season they had a bounty ahead of them. The season of Auf MagLal was coming soon enough, and with it was beautiful skies, gentle rains and patches of green that would sprout quickly across the lands and then die off.
Their reverie about food uniting Brez was broken when in stumbled the karovian chieftain Mag’ol Zhya Gog’mis.

“The farm has a problem. For days now, my cerberus cavalry have tracked and traced the Gang of Ganak Lagg. Each time we have been but a day behind him, and instead we have come upon his kill. Smaller tribes with Mal’ie or Brezan Stalkers coming to ask for food, wiped out and their animals stolen,” said Mag’ol Gog’mis with smoldering anger, “They are worse than bandits, taking everything of worth, and leaving the desert to cover over their crime.”

“They dare do this on the lands of this farm??” said Gulor with genuine outrage.

“No they do it past our borders, only just past our hold. It is definitely part of the desert considered held by the Brezan gangs but not the Gang of Uf Mag’og,” said the Karovian, “And when we finally catch up to them, we tried catching them in a pincer. We struck from both sides, and we served ourselves admirably and killed twenty of them. The rest fled underground. That’s when we realized they had led us deep in territory of the Gang of Hooked Cigar. The bodies of trespassers were hung by hooks and were alight like wicks on a candle. I knew we could not move past this point without Brezan allies or it would cause a full war.”

The UtR (UTD) is poised to begin acting as a peacekeeper force in Brez in territory that technically belongs to gangs not part of the UTR. So what then do they choose to do?

Direction 1) Do they Marshall their forces and stop the raids by Ganak Lagg?

Direction 2) Or do they address the blatant assassination being used by the Mak’laltor with UtR produced foodstuffs?

Each member of the UtR can post to this mission. BUT only the first poster on behalf of the UtR chooses which mission to go on. They MUST say in their first post if they are going for 1 or 2 BUT NOT BOTH.
Then all other UtR posts must follow in the same target (for example if Gang posts first and selects Ganak lagg, all other UtR members must post to take down, neutralize or diplomatically handle Ganak Lagg NOT post about Mak’laltor.

The terrain near Ganak Lagg is sandy outer environs of Brez with lots of burrowing opportunities and small low walled mudbrick buildings and a few marble watch towers.

The terrain near Maklaltor is fully urban with stone and marble buildings with tight alleyways and lots of shadows. The streets are stone, with no potential for burrowing as any tunnel goes instead into sub basements and tunnels under the city. These are inhabited by the pale eyed undertribes of whom the majority had turned feral. On the surface, Mak’laltor has claimed a significant set of city blocks.

Any UtR Haters may post to try and sabotage the efforts of the UtR in this mission if they choose.

Mission Rules
First player to post gets a repost when all other players have finished posting to the mission in response to all other actions.
All other players may only make 1 posting.
Other players may only act as if they have seen the action of the first player who posts.
All other actions are compressed together by the DR team with a focus on storyline, so do not worry about paradoxes between different action posts.
Not every aspect of every action will be shown. This is especially true of actions that exceed two paragraphs.

Open to all Olgog Tribes.

Lord grimaldus cannot post to this mission.

UtR must create their own planning thread for this mission and alert each other to join it.

King Urog was tired of war devastating Brez. All his conversations with Mag Auf Yyanyi coupled with his gang member’s learning from Auf Ur’sa has led him to this point. Vektor and many of his elders were calling for blood. He even received pressure from the other tribes of the Great Northern Army to push for battle. While his numbers were not so plentiful as King Blood’og, his gang members were battle tested. Plus, he likely had more olgog ready to stand behind him should he lead the United Tribes against either group. But battle brought no change. Gul’al was not here to help him, and he could only dream of one path to take. The one that saw Brez take a different journey, and break the cycle of fear. He wasn’t a conquerer. Not anymore. He wanted to be a liberator.

As per his conversations with the United Tribal council, he was going to take actions that while directly countering Blood’og, would also help fortify the weak against Ganak Lagg. He knew he didn’t have enough resources to do both, if he was able to shift behavior enough, maybe he’d be successful enough to do both.

First, he needed to stop olgog from being poisoned. Only one way to do that. Give others the ability to resist poison. He currently only had enough resources to create 40 artifacts in such a short time, so he set about doing that. He would choose these 40 gangs based on relative proximity to Blood’og’s territory and how they were currently faring. He wanted to be able to support stronger gangs from falling prey to Blood’og’s ways. One exception, gang of hooked cigar. They’d get one… just in case good graces were required further down the road.

Second, he would send messengers, telling other neighboring gangs that the UTR is setting up healing houses called Olorog’ru (house to strengthen spirit and will, or house of healing, or whatever similar term narrator wishes). Should anyone fall ill, the UTR/GNA/my gang would be able to heal them. In return, a member of that gang who received healing would have to either work the farms or perform some other public work (fixing up the area around the farms, defend the farms, clean up city streets) for anywhere between 2 days and 1 week, depending on the severity of the issue. If a gang is unwilling to send another member, the person healed could “pay” themselves once they are better, or join the Great Northern Army in receipt for services rendered. These would be housed by both GNA and UTR “forces”. All UTR “forces” would have to carry the colors of the GNA.

Third, diplomacy. His tribals needed to continue to rally the support of Brez. For that, he needed his tribals that worked the land to sing his great deeds. Not only of strength, but of leadership. How his gog never went hungry. Travelled through Der’al. Defeated the Eathers. Saved the Great Uf. United the tribes. Brought together gangs and raiders to create the Great Northern Army. If asked, his tribals would say that raider leadrers and gang leaders got to keep their groups and didn’t have to fight and die. This would be done to attract those that were working on other farms, especially those not of Maklaltor, that Urog was a fair olgog and worthy of joining. If anyone came to speak to him, Urog would allow the usual exchanges (he’d trade raiders, not tribals) and have them join the GNA.

Fourth, dealing with the leaderless. If Blood’og was assassinating other leaders, then he needed to offer these Brezans another place to go other than to swell Blood’og’s numbers. In addition to Olorog’ru (Healing Huts), and it’s service that allows those that need to be “healed” to join the GNA, he’d use the farms to collect the “weak” that had nowhere else to go. He’d have the UTR and his gang members build temporary shelters to live in somewhere around the farm without interfering in its function and the UTR forces would be able to “defend” it. It would create a natural symbiosis. These “leaderless” could be either incorporated into the GNA, Gang, or proverbially conscripted into the UTR “forces.” He’d also set-up safe points, where these leaderless (and other gangs) would be able to caravan together from the city to the farms, preventing maklal’tor and others from sabatoging his efforts.

All UTR members would have been encouraged to assist with this endeavor.

Azrael appeared to the Mighty King Blood’og and in his hubris the Mighty King would not bow. Lord Azrael had long moved beyond pride and took no offense. Instead he said,

"King Blood’og, I, Azrael, Lord of the Uthvelor and Pelebor have seen your brutality and your future. One day you will face a threat greater than you and you will fall in battle. Then what of the Maklaltor? An end to your tribe. But you know the Earthers create long lines of nobility through ages of conquest.
I come here to offer you a deal. When you fall, I will take your eldest strongest child and name him Blood’og II and raise him to defeat all beings even the Ascended Beings and the Ancient Evils. Then he will carry your legacy through the generations.
If you accept my deal I can promise that though your bones may moulder, the great King Blood’og II will be crowned King of Der’al.

Who will challenge him then, the United Tribes which make deals equally with the Sylvan and the Djinni? Or the Kings under Gul’al who hold their Greater Northern Army together with Tlalocalan military aide?

Think on this King Blood’og. Before the Brez is transformed into a land of soft civilized Olgogs acting as pawns of the Djinni, the Sylvan and the Earthers."

Tor’ab found it amusing that the Brezan was keeping them from Battle more than the other tribes of gogs. He did like this, while he was good in combat, he saw that it wasn’t always the solution. But neither was good to let someone cut your neck.

Tor’ab gathered his self proclaimed apprentices (10), the Ur Rhug of his tribe (10), goblin Raiders (15), and the Summoning/Light using Ur Tor (5), and 6 tribesmen pilots, and 3 Lur Union fighters. He would have a crystal to contact the carrier which was now in the air.

This group’s goal was to secure the farms and any group they needed to protect, especially those coming and going to the farms. Most of the visible guards would be his Brezan followers. They would wear the colors of the GNA and UtR per Urog request. Bolstering his numbers, at least in appearance. The raiders would also join with this as well.

Tor’ab would take their Yadol shell Armor plate of the Auf Lal’al (Healing tent) and set it up near the farm. The Raiders would then build buildings and caves for the gogs who worked the farm to stay while at the farm using Earth Leyas. This same group would do this at the different way points that Urog had in mind.

The Ur tor summons are Dolur, Lalag, Tlalur, Tla’ab, and Lolon. Dolur, Lalag, and Tlalur would stay at the farm under the guise of helping farming using earth and water spirits. But they could also use these spirits to counter any attacking forces elemental Leyas.

Tla’ab and Lolon, would travel with the Raiders as the raiders setup the way points. Using their spirits they could setup defensible areas.

The 6 tribesmen would be in the air with 3 Lur union fighters to transport these groups around.

Artificing Poisoning counters
Orog, the Apprentice Auf would spend his time at the farm creating items that cured poison to assist Urogs goal of removing the danger of Poison. If Tor’ab has free time, he’ll create a few items of ignore poison. The Ur Tor will help when they can.

Leaderless
Tor’ab and Lalder have been doing this for a while. Any leaderless would be helped in the way Urog mentioned. Tor’ab would take any non Brezan who wished to work for the UtR Farm or Army to the other farms or the army base. Though the preference would be to keep Brezans guarding Brezans. Brezans guarding Brezans farms.

Patrolling
The Pilots on the Lur Union fighters would have Bird sight so they can see a far distance away. While their group sets up a way point they will be scouting the near area to make sure they are not suprised. While they are not building way points, they will be patroling, but staying out of site, high in the air. 5 Raiders, 2 Tribesmen in each Fighter. One tribesmen with Magi cannon. (2 of the Tribesmen Gulon and OrTla each have Light Leyas 2.)

If the either Army attack group we are suppose to protect.
Each group would report to Tor’ab to get approval to engage. Tor’ab would communicate with Urog for the attack. If Approved: Tor’ab will call in the 3 Lur Union Fighters with the raiders as a quick response team. They would be ordered to keep within our borders. 3 of the Tribesmen will have Magi Cannons (2 new 1 old).
At the farm in an attack
The Summoners will use Earth Spirits to create Mud waves and wind walls to prevent attacks. Use their Leashes that summon Chimeras to attack. The apprentices will have Magi cannons (old style) and will provide cover fire. In hand to Hand, the Apprentices will use their quicker responses (due to armor) and their Hobtor axes to take down the attackers.

Expanding Borders
If Urogs efforts expands the borders due to other tribes joining him and the UtR, then Tor’ab will add their lands to the patrols. If this becomes too much for his group, he will request that the Army takes over patrols.

If overwhelming force attacks

If an overwhelming attack comes, Tor’ab will say to Urog “We have the carrier full of Lur Union fighters to counter this attack. I can call them in at anytime with this crystal. We can crush any attack, but that would be the show of force you have not wanted to use. Especially from a non Brezan tribe. I leave the choice up to you.”

After the meetings with Tor’ab, Maggul left the tent to find that his traveling companion was nowhere to be found. Although without him there to slow him down, Maggul made it back to the rest of the tribe for reinforcements. He explained things with Yagogi’al the Og’ab, and Zhgog’ol Maklur amongst other elders. They would need healers to accompany them to best assist the Gangs of Uf Mag’og and the efforts of the UtR. Tribe uhryu, Zhgog’ol Maklur and Maggul would be leading the operation, taking along 3 mak’abs Makgog’Lallur, Or’gog Mak and Ur’na Lok, 5 ur maks Darhor’ab,Torgog Yi’yamak, Ur’sa Dol, Gog P’hinol, and Dra’ab: all are acting as the Cerebus cavalry if need be. Then also will be Der’ LooDol as a fellow totem student and the 3 gor’ab healers: Orgog’ol, Uf Tor and Darlur Auf. They will make their way to the farms, wearing the colors of the UtR as Urog had asked. They will start as everyone else, working the lands keeping up the farming. From there, they will start setting up checkpoints with the Yadol shell Armor plate of the Auf Lal’al, with the intended purpose of the 'hospital tent." The mak’abs will create STONE PILLAR structures with GROW VINE coverings, at the front they will use SHAPE WOOD into 2 curved scimitars forming an arch resembling the banners of the Yagogi. Uhryu ZHgog’ol will ARTIFICE the arch with PURIFY FOOD AND DRINK, so that once food carried out of the farms through this arch will negate any poison, disease or parasite ailments. Makgog’Lallur and Orgog’ol will go about using herbalism to find a non leyas healing method to purifying the food.

Other gor’abs will use FLESH AND SPIRIT DWELLER to contact the dead that were used as poison testers, find out where they currently lay in rest. The gor’ab will ask the victim if they wish to remain at rest, or be brought back to life, start a new as part of the leaderless or even coming back to Karov. These are your only choices for if you go back to your former tribe, you endanger the spirits those who wish to remain at rest. The gor’ab will stealthily collect the body; cure them from poisons and disease and then before Zhgog’ol Maklur with his staff of resurrect. Whatever decisions are made, having olgogs take their experiences to work together with like-minded thinking well eventually help to defeat the the ways of Ganak Lagg (but that is for another day), and have everyone in Brez on the same side.

Urogs plans were coming together. His allies were helping, and hopefully his efforts meant his ranks would swell.

Urog would not go on the offensive. He would not fall into temptation for power. It would ruin his dream and vision. But he knew he could not run either. Mag Auf’ Yyanyi said “if they come, hide.” Problem was, he was not a Karovan. There was nowhere for him to hide. Perhaps that was the problem, wasn’t it? Once you take territory, you have to defend it.

Basic Strategy for defense: 1) Hydras 2) Narrow streets, limit their numbers (like for Kolgul militia battle) 3) Use Leyas to make traversing any battle area more difficult. If possible, end early by having Shirley and/or Urog challenge Blood’og (whoever is closer). Shirley is wearing the khaz’ga fist wrappings and has SS lvl 3 (incr str) and armorfiend vest with Fang of Unit 817 (catlike reflexes, animal senses, and cobra strike (3)). She’d first case blinding light on him, then confounding lights on herself, then beat him mercilessly. Urog would have the Axe of Nngao, armorfiend vest, feather of kulgul rapi (Animal Smell/Hearing, Catlike Reflexes, Animal Sight (3)), and a hobtor dagger (as a side piece), along with strength of protodoxa. He’d use the same strategy (blinding light, confounding lights, then beat-up). 3) Zlattan would use song of frost to devestate entire portions of the army. 4) Kill the leaders, watch the ur rhug/vandals, scurry. 5) Hope my troops stand firm if it happens to us. 6) Pray it doesn’t happen.

If Blood’og makes a direct challenge on Urog, without attacking, Shirley will counter his attack request by challenging him (if it’s within Brezan custom, I forget). Otherwise, Urog will accept and his tribals will sing Urog a song during the battle to “pep him up.”

Available for battle:
Directly Gang: 178 (10 elders, 115 raiders, 28 tribals, 25 ur rhug)
GNA: 40 Raiders, 40 Ur Rhug, 50 Goblin Vandals, 10 Ur Mak, 10 Ur Rhug, 10 Ur Tor, 10 Ur Tor, lead by 10 Goblin Raider Chieftains.
UTR for GNA - 400 Ferals

Weaponized with Hobtor (let me know if you need full listing of weapons).

Og’ Lokkol will be going along with all others, along the way he will be met by Kalok’ Lallur. They will assist wherever possible, but if anyone actually does make an attack on Yoag, they will show they true colors as militiagogs and take out the threat. They are only following Yagogi’al in show, but really with the Kolgul Militia…Sorry guys.

ignore this post, wrong mission
