Goblin Lands Theft Mission Week 10: The Tower of Resugent

#1

A mile away from the tower, they found a soaked camp of two tents. There they encountered five squires who failed epically at their watch.

“What are you doing out here boys?” asked Resugent, “Why aren’t you in the tower?”

“An Inquisitor took the tower Sir Resugent. He said you were long dead and wouldn’t be coming back. Its good to see you sir!” said one squire named Ham.

“Hamfist the second, son of Lord Hamfist of Dunesphere your father would think you daft for sitting out here in the rain. And Goblins could cut your throats while you sat here you were all so distracted.”

“Sorry sir, the Goblins been avoiding us, they want the tower,” replied Ham as he chewed on his thumb.

“How many Goblins?” asked Resugent.

“One hundred from Brez,” said Ham, “They yelled something about the Inquisitor oweing them money? They have been camped outside for over a week.”

At that one of the squires sneezed, oozing greenish mucus. Resugent said a small prayer and placed his hands on the boy’s head. The sneezing stopped and the mucus first turned from green to clear and then stopped dripping completely.

“Thank you sir,” said the squire, “I feel better.”

“God will make everything better, all we have to do is believe it will become better,” said Ham.

“And act when needed,” interrupted Khalid pointing at the Tower of Resugent in the center of a teeming mass of Goblins.

At the window in the top floor of the tower stood a man dressed in an Inquisitor’s uniform. The strange Inquisitor extended his hand and suddenly the entire crowd of one hundred Olgogs grabbed their chests. Some yelped, some roared, some died quietly, but all of them died in that instance.

Sir Resugent saw the elusive Mortis Leonin for the first time. His wild white hair with salt and pepper sides made him look like his head had exploded. A small bushy white mustache graced his upper lip. His deep blue eyes were ringed in brown. And his expression was one of fury and madness.

“I order you to hand over the Censor of the Most Beloved Squire,” yelled Mortis Leonin, “If you don’t I will kill your entire household as quickly as I killed those Goblins. I need that Censor, and therefore I must have it. You cannot and will not keep it from me. You are thieves, you must have stolen the Censor. So close to my goal and the one piece I need you have. Give it to me NOW!”

“Not the most respectful piece of scum eh?” asked Khalid in a whisper.

“I can see why you dislike this man,” answered Resugent in a whisper.

It is a race to the tower’s lowest floor trying to get past five obstacles

Obstacle 1- The Techno-Simulacra: By combining Technomantic Eye spy mekanoids with Light Leyas simulcrums, Mortis has placed five leyas active versions of himself at various points throughout the tower. They have strengths and weaknesses unknown to the tribal and Church of One forces. Only the location of the top one is known which is located on the top of the tower. They will attack anyone they see in the tower with a variety of unknown deadly attacks and Leyas abilities. They have access to thermal vision (seeing heat), normal vision, and sonar.

Obstacle 2- First floor, One Iron Barred wooden door. Two techno simulacra with church of one peasant and squire hostages. They will only be seen by the heroes when they enter this room. S.A.R. 15 (wood and iron)

Obstacle 3- Once down a flight of stone stairs, a magnetic door with a keycode activator, with special slot for the Censor.
Otherwise an sar 50 door. (steel and synthetics)

Obtacle 4- Past the door is sub-basement 1 filled with K’ias Memory Clones of the line of Domino. Each has the stats listed on page 25 of the Goblin Lands book. Armed as listed.

Obstacle 5- The Original Book of Cardinal Bray, a proto-church of one bible with all of the notes in the margins from the Alien shapeshifter who wrote it. This is the Icon that Khalid and Resugent wish to recover. It is stored in a hermetically sealed tube with security cameras and laser cannons tied in to a combat A.R. (F.S. 8, 1 attack per gun). And five defensive Laser Emplacements (SAR 15, Anti Infantry Laser weapon 15 Energy dmg, Half A.R., Burst Fire (+3 Dodge T#) Unlimited Ammo. EP 25.

Tower Layout: The Tower has two floors and a roof above ground and an unknown number of sub-basements for surviving the Flamewinds of the Season of Auf Ka below ground.
At the bottom of the stairs however has always been a door to a vault previously unopened. It is set with a beautiful inscription and gold plating and labelled Tower Emergency Chapel.

Mission Rules
First player to post gets a repost when all other players have finished posting to the mission in response to all other actions.
All other players may only make 1 posting.
Other players may only act as if they have seen the action of the first player who posts.
All other actions will be compressed together by the DR team with a focus on storyline, so do not worry about paradoxes between different action posts.
Not every aspect of every action will be shown. This is especially true of actions that exceed two paragraphs.

Special Challenges: Entire raiding party of olgogs now dead in heaps around the foot of the Tower rotting away in the hot sun.
Smell is aweful. Olgogs must convince Resugent and Khalid WHY they should accept their help against Leonin.
The villian, rogue Inquisitor Mortis Leonin could possibly wipe out all Olgogs on Refuge if he succeeds in this mission.
Prevent Leonin from escaping with a sample of the K’ias Mimics and Prevent him from stealing the proof of the Inquisition’s hypocracy.

This mission takes place at the Tower of Resugent between Unen and Brez.

This mission can only be won by the combined teamwork of multiple tribes, Khalid Phoenixkiller AND Lord Grimaldus. Without this both sides will suffer catostrophic losses TO ALL OTHER HOLDINGS.

Ka’ab and Orog would work the earthers to thwart that crazy earther who killed all of the gogs. Ka’ab had already introduced themselves, but he did not think the earthers trusted them. So he and Orog would have to be careful. They would follow the lead of the earthers. Offering the help described below when needed. If they don’t need to risk themselves, they won’t. They will heal or res each other using potions or the ring. Also they will heal anyone else in the party.

Ka’ab would Shadow jump with Resugent to a spot hidden from view, but within touching distance of one of the dead Olgogs. He expects Resugent to do something to animate the corpse. He would flare his cape over them to use as additional cover. The Wilderness camo should hide them more. When this was done, Ka’ab would jump to the door. Orog using the distraction would meet the group there too. Shadow Jumping if needed.

Ka’ab and Orog would both have chill shield and ice shield up. Hopefully they could hide enough in the shadows and other types of sight. Orog would use Hidden Strike Cannon to keep the use of his magi cannon less noticeable.

At the Door, Orog will set an illusion on the other side of the door being closed (if possible) Then Ka’ab will use Magma Claws to cut the hinges or the door to open it. if combat starts, Orog will use Mirror to reflect any Light/laser attack back. Then Orog will shoot the clones with his magi cannon.

On the next tougher door. If the earthers don’t disarm it, Ka’ab will try to use some chill energy to remove the power to the lock, so the door can be opened. (Yeah I used this again).

On the final area with the lasers that are shooting. Orog will drop ice shield, and use mirror shield. Both will keep behind cover, only exposing the mirror shield to one laser. Then Orog will try to reflect the laser shots. If this doesn’t work, Orog will try to shoot it. During this, Ka’ab will have his healing ring on, healing any who need it.

When the earthers have the prize, they will ask about it. Hoping to learn what it is. If the earthers attack them, they will shadow jump away. Figuring out what to do later about this.

Nightmare Hide Armor, Forked Krato Bone Short Thrusting Spear with Shield breaker with Chill Bolt Stud and Lightning Spear Stud. 4 healing potions, 4 res potions. Chamleon Cloak (Wilderness Camo, Obscure, Comfortable Aura)

Na’lok of the Horned Dogs arrived at the tower along with Yaka the juvenile pit mongrel. For days he had been trying to civilize the youth. Despite wearing full plate armor Yaka was still a savage child.

While Yaka sent out fire spirits to draw the Leonin’s attention, Na’lok would shadow walk across the battlefield, stealing all those easy to steal corpses.

Na’lok made sure to bring a simple wooden cart large enough for at least fifteen bodies, and hid it away from the tower.

They would NOT enter the tower. If any K’ias Mimics came out of the tower they would flee with the stolen bodies and report the K’ias to their Quall N’drone Queen.

#4

Ok, this might be a bit long, First Resugent shall gather some rocks off of the ground.

Resugent will then go with Ka’ab and pop out of the shadow near the bodies, trying to stay hidden, he shall focus healing leyas into the bodies and raise three katherons and order them to grab rocks, or anything they can get heir hands on and throw them at the Simulacra that can be seen. If they survive that encounter they shall go around trying to gain the attention of any more defenders.

While that is happening the group shall try to take advantage of the distraction to get into the door to the tower. He will let the Olgogs get the door open. Once inside and Resugent sees the two techno simulacra he shall cast Flashing Lights to distract them then fire dart on two of the rocks he gathered and hurl them at the techno simulacras hopefully shattering them. Then Resugent shall order the Squires to secure any surviving prisoners and secure the first floor. Take anything they can find and build a barricade to hide behind and use their crossbows on any techno simulacras they see. Resugent shall use healing to resurrect anyone who dies in the attack.

At the code door we shall use the censor to unlock it, hopefully that works or Resugent knows the password.

If the Kias memory clones are inactive then Resugent shall attempt to figure out a way to seal them away or destroy them without waking them up, if not, we we are kinda screwed then :stuck_out_tongue: . If they are active then Resugent shall cast flashing lights to disorientate them and Throw Light to distract them while the group sneaks past.
If fighting happens Resugent shall cast Life Shield on himself and only engage enough to get past them unless he can talk his way through, violence would be less then ideal. If they can be convinced that Leonin is the enemy that would be nice too.

For the lasers, Resugent shall use Mirror in addition to Life Shield to help keep himself alive.
He shall also attempt to Throw light at the cameras in order to blind them so they cannot target the raiding party. Allowing them to get close and take out the laser cannons. Periodically Resugent shall heal or revive his “allies”

Once the threats are done he shall attempt to get the book.

Kharos stared at the distant structure that they would soon be invading. He slid off his black steed, and lightly slapped it’s back to get it moving away from the tower. It could not help him here, and if he should die he did not want it to die along with him. Fixing his daisho blades to his side, he said a quiet prayer to Kalok before joining his companions.

He would stick close to the gogs of chieftain Lalder, but being that he lacked the talent to shadow jump, he would take a rather different route inside. He would wait for the distraction to occur, as they had previously planned. Once this was accomplished, he would dash to the door and allow Ka’ab to cut open the door with his claws. Once inside, he would put up an Orb of Fire (Fire lvl 2) and charge the clones with his blades, hopefully disrupting the enemy’s thermal vision with his fiery orb. If he survives the encounter, he will move to the next room with the others.

For the next door, he will allow the others to either break or disarm it safely. Once into the area with the Kias memory clones, he would use grow vines (earth lvl 1) to hopefully trip up the clones long enough for the others or himself to cut them down. If the clones are inactive, he would wait until a plan was created, or if the distraction was necessary, he would charge them.

In the final room, he would throw up another orb of fire and allow them to be dealt with while dodging as best he can. At the end of all this, if he still lived, he would allow the others to recover the book while he instead searched the room or any adjacent for items of interest. He would remain with Khalid following the battle to carry out phase two of his orders.

Equipment and Stats:

-1 Ur’Tor tribal Kharos

~Standard except for lvl 2 in fire leyas

-Honorific samurai’s Daisho set with a Katana and Wakazashi (Both with shieldbreaker lvl 4 + gains respect of colony people when worn

S.A.R. 15 (wood and iron) First, tunnel material for a peep hole. Then use create water and freeze water on the techno-simulacra to prevent movement (using artifact or tribal’s leyas). Open the door (either destroy it with tunnel material or break the “hinges” with tunnel material, whichever causes less collateral damage).

They are here to help Resugent and will obey his basic commands.

#7

The Killer of hope He had been called since leaving Earth thousands of years ago. For those thousands of years he had traded his service in finding new dimensions for the Quall Ndrone to invade.
He had a wife and a beautiful baby boy and the respect of millions of horned dogs and Quall Ndrone. He was good at what he did.
Then it had all gone wrong. He had been killed by the assassin Daemonsbane. His son had been kidnapped and raised by his enemies. Years later he would meet this son, this Maverick Multimancer.

His enemies had turned his son into a useless fop. A dandy, a wannabe swashbuckler who didnt have a wit of personal responsibility. With that said, his son had revealed the betrayal already underway by the Quall. Yes they did not fully invade earth due to Khalid’s millenia of faithful service.

Instead they manipulated the situation using their proxies in the form of the Iron Republic to conquer Earth. The Quall N’drone had kept their promise to Khalid to the letter but they had broken the spirit of that promise.

So he fled and wandered and met time travelers, and aliens and ancient kings. And all whispered of the Mad Time Shredder Mortis Leonin. A racist and a zealot Leonin wanted to wipe out all alien species not just on Refuge but throughout all of time.

Mortis sought to create a timeline where Humans were the rulers over countless planets inhabited only by nonsentient alien life forms. But the universe was tied together and such a timelime was one of death and stagnation as endless worlds’ biospheres collapsed. It was a timeline of extinction.

Now Khalid had tracked the villain down. Here this small tower held the key,* a book of faith and biological samples that would allow Leonin to create a technoplague that would ignore humans and kill all nonhuman sentient life in the universe. And Khalid Phoenixkiller would not stand for it. His time among the Quall had taught him to value alien life equally to human life.

His first step was to use the Censor to shadow walk Resugent and the Squires to the base of the tower.

Then use the Monkey Puzzle to send a True Nightmare to distract the Leonin technosimulcra on the roof. Khalid would then shadowwalk to join them.

Using shockproof gloves he would pick the lock on the wooden door.

Then he would use the Goblet of Leonin (ironically) to chill anyone in the room, in case of ambushes.

He would use the censor to unlock the door, making sure any allies kept guard so Leonin couldnt slip in behind him.

He would use the Carafe to become shadow and slip past any threats inside without alerting them.

He would shadow walk to open a shadow near the book and reach in to pull it out, hiding in shadows using the tools of the squires. Once the book was in his possession, he would become shadow again and flee.

Leonin would have to follow them out into the open. And then they all could take him out as long as Khalid kept chilling areas to stop nanoplague. And worse case, his bright shiny new flamethrower was ready to go and burn some Inquisitorial flesh. He wouldn’t chill life the Leonin himself because he didn’t want to raise him as a Kaeloech, just his technomantic attacks. Neutralize. To prevent Resugent from getting worried, Khalid would ONLY use abilities brought about by the Squires Relics including Obscure which he would sustain and Leyas sight and meld with weapon to make sure the censor could not be stolen (sustained by artifacts not by Khalid directly). He wanted his aura to clearly show he was gaining power from these relics and artifacts just in case.

#8

(OCC I don’t have much to add other than this below. I had most everything in my original post)
Orog says to Kharos “Come with me” and then Orog will grab Kharos to shadow jump to the door.

Ka’ab and Orog willl, if allowed, explore the lab once everything is safe.
