Goblin Lands Peacekeeper Mission Week 14: The Hungry Hordes

#1

Gulor of Auf Lal’al was impressed by the efforts to build the underground farms. It was an effective joint effort between the Auf Lal’al and the Gang of Uf Mag’og, tla’loc’al and brezans building extensive underground farms able to grow a wide variety of edible foodstuffs. Vines full of sugary syrup extended back and forth across the canopy of nanye pear trees and binber fruit trees. It amazing to see such beauty bloom under the desert after just two weeks of careful application of Leyas and care and love.
The tops of the underground farms were thick rock, shaped to evenly distribute the morning moisture that would collect on it. Light Leyas stones artificed to activate during the morning and afternoon kept the plants bathed in a healthy glow.
In the ruins of Brez, this much food and water was a treasure worth more than any shiny metal. A gang with this type of food source could rule the rest while growing stronger every year.
A single loose word from one of the Olgog workers tending the farm made its way into the ear of an Olgog trader making his way into the ruined city, and from there the word spread like wildfire.
The Gang of Mak’lalTor beat every subordinate gang in its reach into action on one side of Brez and they set out in a march that made the entire GNA seem a small army indeed.
On the south side of Brez, the Gang of Ganak Lagg has also mobilized a Brezan stalker cavalry numbering in the hundreds. In a city with a population as large as Brez, even these mobilizations were small. Most Olgogs in Brez didn’t even really understand what the United Tribes of Refuge represented. So they saw no need to come to the defense of the underground farms.

Shirley of Uf Mag’og and Gulor of Auf Lal’al watched the huge mass of Gangers that surrounded the north side of the farms, and then saw the stalker cavalry cut off the southern approach as well.

From the north side waddled a giant Olgog, nearly nine feet tall and as wide as a Mak Hoblok. He was dressed in multi-colored armor. Bronze plates hung next to steel bands, draped with iron chainmail, all adorned with the cloaks of defeated foes. The red of an Inquisitor was draped on one shoulder and the blue of an EEF naval uniform on the other. His head was helmed by a Dragon’s skull, which barely fit his oversized cranium. He was the King Blood’og and around his neck hung the a dried Mak’laltor, the “death” fruit the gang got its name from.

Death fruit was a binber fruit or a nanye pear into which a malicious ganger gently hammered small roofing nails. Once it was suitably mushy, the holes would then be filled with chewed up torya grasses to bulk it back up. It would then be left out in enemy gang territory during times of famine.

Since it was often the gang leader offered any food found in their territory, quite a few gangs found themselves leaderless and easy prey for the Gang of Mak’laltor.

The Gang of Ganak Lagg was not much better. They didn’t care about numbers or land, and only the best Stalker riders were invited to join them. Any others the Gang found were whipped with scourges make from olgog fur and marble chips and driven off to act as bait for the Mighty Yadols. Ganak Lagg had always dreamed of becoming a Yadol Rider, and did ride a larger Brezan Stalker.

He did not bother approaching the farms to talk. It was obvious he planned on letting the Mak’laltor and defenders kill each other before he attacked the survivor.

Shirly may have been tempted to challenge the larger King Blood’og, so she was surprised when a Kalokgog stepped forth at King Blood’og’s side and said, “Stand down farmers, and none will be harmed. These farms are claimed by Great King Blood’og, as his right as Mightiest Chieftian of Brez. Unless Gul’al herself steps forth, King Blood’og refuses the challenge from these lesser Olgogs.
You give up the farms in full to the mightiest Gang of Mak’laltor, and Great King Blood’og shows his restraint.
He is strong and even stronger in mercy to those who swear loyalty and alliegance to him.
Swear fealty to Great King Blood’og and the king will share some of the food wealth that is grown here with you.
Fight and you will die.
This is Brez and Great King Blood’og is Brez!”

The Mak’laltor King roared his agreement and it echoed across the desert and through the subterranean tunnels.

It was a challenging moment in many ways. A battle would cause losses on both sides. While the UtR could call upon a full military force to strike with artificed vehicles that could quickly cut through the barely armored Mak’laltor Vandals, it would concern many other Brezan tribes to see a “standing army” mobilized in their lands.
Losing the farms to King Blood’og would deal a devastating blow to the legitimacy of the UtR in Brez.
Then there was the question of Ganak Lagg and his burrowing cavalry ready to flank the defenders the moment the problem of Mak’laltor was handled.

Teamwork between UtR, GNA, Lur Union and GUTS will be required to win this mission.

Gulor felt the weight of the situation on his head. He was not an Auf, he wasn’t even Ur Tor in training to be an Auf. He was just a tribesmen who happened to be good with farming. And now he was synchronizing either a diplomatic effort, or an all out battle that could result in Brez falling apart.

Gulor would follow Shirley/Urog’s lead, as they are the ranking UtR Brez gogs.

Initial Defence
When the time came, Gulor gave the signal for the reinforcements that would build the protections around the farm to arrive. Tor’ab, his apprentices (10 Ur Rhug), 4 Ur Tor, 15 Goblin Raiders, and the 8 FKM Gogs would teleport in. Their first action will be to fortify the farm area above ground before the armies.
There will be 2 paths that lead to the farm left open that would allow the leaders of each army to approach. From this, the group will take a defensive stance and await Shirley’s next actions of calling out the leaders. Gulor and Tor’ab would then stand behind and near Shirley, showing the Brez gogs are in charge.

The FKM olgogs (8) would take up positions where they cover all sides, making sure the group is not hit from a blind side. They have their artificed Fire Lances and Springshot rifles with swordfiend ammo. They are being obvious so other tribes snipers can do their work.

While this goes on, Rings of Tunneling would be passed around to Shirely’s tribe. In prep for the next step.

Diplomacy (actions are meant to help Shirely make her point)
Tor’ab’s if given the opportunity will say “We of the Herd of Auf Lal’ al are here to teach Brezian’s to farm per the vote of the Brezians and the UtR’s commitments to Brez. Any tribes or gogs that wish to learn to farm, just need to supply the gogs to learn and tend to the farm may do so and the location where to build it.

If you wish to lead Brez or claim leadership, you will need to earn that right at the upcoming trials.

And we will defend ourselves if attacked.”

Then Tor’ab will nod and await Shirely/Urog’s orders if her attempt at diplomacy fails. Gulor is next to them with the comm crystal ready to call in the attack or evac.

Summoners Kugon and Rhugal will be ready to summon either a spirit or a Chimera to handle any attack.

Challenge a King - Only if oked by Shirely/Urog
If Shirely/Urog desires, Tor’ab will challenge either King. He would not do an unarmed fight, but one with Leyas. While in an unarmed fight, he may loose, his extensive knoweldge of Shadow and Shapeshifting leyas should remove some of their advantage over him. And his equipment should help with the rest. As Air leyas won’t effect him at all.

Destroy the Farm (On command)
Lalag and Tlalur will summon earth spirits and have them go below to the farm below. There the spirits will await the order to destroy the farm. If this order comes, they will mud wave the crops.
Tla’ab and Lolon will do much the same above the ground to any part of the farm.

Lalon will use his earth spirit to send a mud wave down the path to prevent the Brezian stalkers from Charging their position, hopefully making that path impassable for them.

Kugon and Rhugal will summon an air spirit to create a wind wall blocking off both armies from attacking.

Evacuation
The group of gogs will pair up and teleport out to designated pickup spot where the Lur Union fighters can pick the group up. If not possible, look at combat extraction.

Kugon and Rhugal will summon an air spirit to create a wind wall blocking off both armies from attacking.

Battle (This will be avoided if possible. Will not make first attack)
If a battle ensues where the troops cannot be evacuated, 3 more Aufs will join the fight with the backing of the 10 Lur Union fighters. Each with tribesmen Pilots and Gunners. They will not call on the UtR army, though others may not see the difference at this point.

The Brezian kings will be the targets to pin down with the Magi Cannons by Lalon, Lolon and Tla’ab. Additionally the FKM will target the kings as well. They will not make it out unhurt or alive if possible. Armies don’t work right if you take out the leadership.

The Summoners will summon Chimera’s to keep back the Brezian stalkers (if they attack). Then they will switch to Earth spirits to use mud waves to hinder the attacking army from moving forward.

Tor’ab ‘s apprentices and the goblin raiders will work to counter the attacking armies Leyas attacks. Additionally they will create more walls of pikes to give the defenders cover.

The Lur Union fighters will launch some fireballs into the attacking army to break their ranks.

All of this should allow the chance for an extraction if needed. The extraction call will be made by Shirely or Tor’ab depending on the situation.

Tor’lur should speak to his people before leaving “UtR Gogs think they so big, think they can make food to draw Gogs to serve. Tor’Lallur no serve UtR. Pit no serve UtR! See how UtR cause Gog fight Gog. Farm bring death and pain. We save Gog from farm. We show all power of Pit! We give all purity of sick. They learn, no matter how strong Gog is, tiny sickness be stronger. Arrogant Gog think can control world, they learn that no is so strong. Tor’Lallur not be bullied, no serve UtR! Serve only Pit!”

Tor’lur quietly creeped toward the soon to be battlefield with 3 apprentices (All plague Vampyrs) he knew that soon a massive battle would be engaged. A fine opportunity to spread the power of the Pit. Along with them were Dar’ab and 3 more tribals. Dar’ab and his Gogs would hide in the background and wait until things start going out of control then summon Diseased Kuo’lo to spread plague to both sides. Keep everyone fighting to keep things chaotic.
While this was happening Tor’lur and his apprentices would shadow walk and sneak into the farms themselves. Hiding in shadows when anyone comes near, while the fighitng draws people’s attention they shall infect the crops and the soil. Not with anything that would kill the Gogs eating the food, but enough to get them sick. Once they infect a large amount of the crops, or they are discovered they shall withdraw summoning Diseased Kuo’lo to distract the enemy allowing them to escape.

Urog was most unhappy with the circumstances. The United Tribes had managed to do something that he in his dreams would never have imagined: create farmland in Brez. No longer will the olgog of Brez be reduced to an infinite quantity of vermin. But Blood’og and Ganak Lagg wanted to destroy that dream by conquering the farm for their own.

Not on this day, thought Urog. He acted quickly and sent messengers to the other tribes for back-up. He also sent messengers, using his new comm crystals, to spread the word about how Urog was going to do a free distribution of food at the farm. He wanted an audience… and not just the Maklal’tor gang. He’d also have the farmers bring as much food as possible to Urog’s feet.

Urog’s plan was simple. Either the oncoming gangs would lay down their weapons and receive the food distribution and go on their merry way, or the leader of each gang would be executed for their trespass.

Vektor hated this plan. It was too un-Brezan. He was worried it would upset the balance the Great Northern Army had created in Brez. It would also lead many to think Urog was weak. It was an impractical solution at best. Besides, despite their smaller numbers, he was sure they would be able to defeat both armies. Hob’tor was a useful weapon against the living. But Urog wouldn’t listen, and Urog was King.

30 Tribals would make their way to the grounds, as would 30 Ur Rhug, and Urog’s Raiders, the Op-u-lints, and 15 standard raiders. There would be Urog, Vektor, Shirley, and Rapiogna, and 3 other standard Brezan Elders, 3 Goblin Kingz, and 3 Kolgol New Recruits. This force, of course, was for show more than actual action. Urog would set up the recruits as snipers, each with a Capture model magi-cannon. They’d each be perched somewhere far enough away, and hidden, not to be seen by the opposition. In reserve, via comm crystal, he had on stand-by the Hateful Word (40 raiders).

When it was Urog’s turn to speak, his tribals would hum songs of Increase Charisma, Mock Agression, and any other ability that would enhance his aura, even if redundant.

Urog virtually ignores whatever his would-be usurper says and responds, “Welcome, gangers of Brez. We are happy you received our message about food. You’re a little early, but welcome! You are at the first great farm of Brez. We hope to build more of these, so that all Brezans can be free from the hunger. It’ll take is some hard work, but we can work together to ensure no olgog hungers ever again in this city. This farm belongs to all of Brez. No single Goblin King will rule it. It is a gift from the Lur Union, Tla’loc’al, and the United Tribes of Der’al. If you send gang members to work it, they may take mak from it to feed your gang. We, the United Tribes of Der’al, the Great Northern Army, and the Gang of Uf Mag’og, defend it.”

Urog takes a slight pause before continuing, “Blood’og and others… you have two choices.” Urog has the Ur Rhug bring forth the food, “You may drop your weapons, and retrieve food. Tomorrow, you will send your own to work the land with us. As long as there are gog to work it, the farm will give us mak.” Urog drops his voice, filling it with menace, “And unlike King Blood’og, I don’t need to threaten mercy. If you attack this farm, and selfishly try to hoard what is meant for all, then none will have its bounty. I don’t need mercy, Brezans, to show or to ask. Gul’al is indeed the Mightiest Chieftan, and I am the guardian of her armies. So if Blood’og challenges this farm, he challenges Gul’al, the Great Northern Army, and the United Tribes of Der’al.”

Urog pauses, changing his tone to matter-of-factly, “A word of warning to any Gang leader who challenges this farm. You will not be treated like a Brezan, as your actions are not just against Brezans. You will be treated like a war criminal against the United Tribes of Der’al. In this case, my judgment will be as follows: war criminals that attack this farm to hoard its bounty will be hunted down, executed, and granted final death.”

Urog gives a pause, “But let that not be why you choose to stay your hands. This farm is a gift from our fellow olgog. It grants us a better life. And if we do not cherish it, protect it, and share it, then we do not deserve it. Any show of force here today, and it will be destroyed. Either it belongs to all or it belongs to none. So Blood’og, and others,” Urog waves generically around, “if you choose selfishness, to prove your og to all, the olgog of Brez will continue to starve. Your blatant lack of compassion will not be tolerated. So everyone… think very strongly about the consequence of your actions. Today will be either the day we begin to live differently, or the day we prove that we deserve nothing more than to be slaves, begging for mercy from the “strong”.”

If/when Blood’og makes a move, he’d get sniped the Capture Magi-cannons. If this causes an interruption in his speech, Urog would quickly say, “He’s not dead, just sleeping. But before making a single step, let me finish what I say.” If Urog is done speaking and Blood’og makes a move, then he’d get dropped (signaling both Lur Union’s snipers and his own), then one of Urog’s aeromancers would levitate the body towards Urog. Urog would use Nngao’s axe to slice the olgog’s neck and then Shirley would burn the body using ka’or. If that wasn’t enough to get the armies to take pause and reconsider, then phase 2 would come into play.

First, he’d signal to the Lur Union folk lying in wait to destroy the farm as he said, “This farm is yours to take.,” would be Urog’s final words as his ‘army’ left the field.

If the opposing armies attacked anyway, Zlattan the Songmancer would wreak havoc on the opposing field (the area effect storm ability). The tribals would summon Hydras to slow the rush (using trinkets of summon hydra), while Urog’s Raiders created pits, vines, and all sorts of impediments to ebb the rush as the army left the field. If Blood’og was not yet killed, the snipers would continue to target him. Aeromancers would create coughing clouds between the two armies to further slow them down. Lightmancers would target Blood’og with shining lights (light lvl 1), making him easier to hit. Tribals would use the equivalent ability troub level 1. Focus most of the attack on killing him and taking his body. The Kalokgog would be handled by Shirley, using either her khazga fist wrappings, or combination of Earth and shapeshift Leyas.

If getting overwhelmed, call in the Hateful Word to flank from the rear. And assist in the “retreat.” Hopefully, other gangs have come in and decided to take their hate on Maklal, not Gang of Uf’Mag’og.

Ganek Lagg:
If Blood’og showed compassion and left the field (hopefully because of all the dissent he was getting from his own gang members), then Urog would have his gog use Find (earth level 1) to track things underground not farm-related (if possible). If it wouldn’t damage the farm, Urog’s raiders would en masse change earth to change the earth to mud, and then to stone, trapping everyone. He’d then find Ganek Lagg, and have him executed as well. Those who perished, other than Ganek Lagg, would be brought back to life and offered a choice: Join the Great Northern army or bugger off. No pressure would be brought to bear. It would be a conscientious decision. If the farm wasn’t destroyed, they’d be offered food (same true of Maklal’tor’s gangers).

If the farm is destroyed, the only concern would be not to be ambushed as the action of destroying the farm would likely damage the stalkers lying in wait. For those not killed, tribals would use sonar to find hidden folk, or find (earth ability). As usual, Hydras are effective at covering ground and acting as meat shields.

Similar strategies to those against Blood’og. The primary purpose wouldn’t be to kill the opponents, it would be leave the field and allow the enemy to “have” their spoils.

If getting really overwhelmed, call the rest of GNA back-up (about 400 ferals and 200 assorted raiders). The focus would be on killing elders, those who lead. Not followers. Once elders were “killed”, other would be healed. (Zlattan’s Songmancy ability would be useful in that regard, as well as all the hob’tor HP gained useful in converting others back to health).

Gulor who is keeping watch and coordinating responses keeps his eye out for any intrusion of the enemy. Since most of the gogs here can shadow walk, the large number of Light leyas (10) users are spaced around with the Holy Light Artifact in the center. If any enemy gogs are found to have shadow walked it (by any gog), a verbal distinct shout is yelled, and all activate Halo. Destroying the chance of any shadow walker continuing or getting away. This is done because of the Raiders and Kings but not activated at first because Gulor and his allies use Shadow too.

(OCC I don’t believe I will notice the disease right away, but the Aufs and the Rings of healing can cure disease. Rings of Healing are Cure Poison, Cure Disease, and Heal Internal Damage. There should be 5 of them spread around. Tor’ab always has one.)

Tor’ab and his forces will follow Urog’s Lead.

(OCC In the description above I mixed up Shed Light and Halo. Shed Light should be used to cancel Shadow effects, though Halo could be used if a Vampyre is found causing trouble. Sorry for the mistake.)

There will be two front, both following the orders of Uf Magog and Lalder. This is their operation and show of a United Tribes member is necessary. Accompanying them will be a cantrip form of one of the juvenile gor’abs. (Any of the CANTRIP+SEEING forms of the olgogs are the bulked up idealized versions of them, juvenile gor’abs are following interactions through the cantrips. All of the juvenile gor’abs and mak’abs are away safely.) If and only if it is looking like it is going to come to battle, and army led by the pacified Uhryu Zhgog’ol Maklur, with acting herald Yayi the trumpeter and his former Kolgul Militagogs holding the banner of a curved scimitar painted with an edge of zela. Their force is CANTRIPS+ SEEING of all of thr tribals riding summoned CERBERUS of thr Mak’abs. If the Calvary of the second tribe makes an attack, this group with flank the charge from the side.
On the opposite side are Yagogi’al with Mag’ol Zhya Gog’mis and the true tribal(all 19 tribals) forces all on summoned CERBERUS. So that the cantrip army charges and the come running into the true forces using tribal fury. The cantrip army is there to evacuate anyone that are in need of an escape. If battle can be avoided, all the better but following and assisting Uf Magog and Lalder.
