Goblin Lands Heroic Mission Week 14: Petrol Problems

#1

Lord Mada and Hide of the Rhug’na’ru were looking down at the Petrol Refinery from the safety of a Hindengog-class Zepplin. As it bobbed safely high above, Lord Mada had concealed them in a set of shadows that made them seem little more than part of a cloudbank.
Down below them was the Red Bishop’s Petrol Refinery.
Patrolled by Church of One Knights and Red Bishops armed with compressed air spearguns. None seem allowed to have an open flame for obvious reasons, and also they didn’t seem to be carrying any weapon that might give off a spark (like a firearm, plasma emitter, or laser array).
Their patrols were regular and the place was warded.

The first floor were primarily vats of crude oil. It had a network of pipes carrying the material once refined upward and out to storage tanks located in a semi-circle around the concrete facility.

On the second floor were cubicle offices of the Red Bishops who worked there, monitoring the computer controlled equipment, filling out shipping orders, or doing other administrative work necessary to an operation like this one.

On the third floor was the laboratories where Red Bishops tested new mixtures and additives to get the most out of the petrol. The plans also showed a lab dedicated in producing jellied gasoline and other napalm-like weaponized petrol products.

Every few days, Tracked trucks would arrive and leave full of barrels of refined petrol. Each pair of trucks were defended by a steam tank, and a stealth hovercopter. However these deliveries were sporatic, and never came two days in a row.

When a shipment was not moving in or out, the facility was defended by a single Antaris Anti-Air Strider. Its weapons were more than enough to drive off Goblin Raiders, nightmares and the rare group of wild giants.

If the Church of One finds out the facility has fallen completely to the Olgogs they will send in a stealth hovercopter to blow it up rather than leave it in Olgog hands.

1-How do you counter the Knights on the first floor, and the Red Bishops on second and third floors?

2-How do you prevent any unexpected fires from setting off the entire facility?

3- What are you primarily trying to steal: petrol barrels, crude oil containers, napalm-like incediary weapons, computer equipment?

4- If you take the facility, Do you leave any survivors?

Mission Rules
First player to post gets a repost when all other players have finished posting to the mission in response to all other actions.
All other players may only make 1 posting.
Other players may only act as if they have seen the action of the first player who posts.
All other actions are compressed together by the DR team with a focus on storyline, so do not worry about paradoxes between different action posts.
Not every aspect of every action will be shown. This is especially true of actions that exceed two paragraphs.

Open to all Mercs but no Olgog Tribes except for Rhug’na’ru which can call upon all of their own tribals and vehicles and may invite any number of tribes to this mission.

Lord grimaldus can post one defensive response post to this mission. He can only use the defenders listed above armed as stated above.

Special Challenges 1st floor 20 Knights, 20 Red Bishops armed with Compressed Air Spearguns
2nd floor 10 Red Bishops armed with Liquid Nitrogen sprayers and compressed air spearguns
3rd floor 7 Red Bishop scientists armed with dangerous incendiary weapons that could ignite the whole facility.

Come here to plan the mission. Anyone who doesnt come to this mission to plan will probably have bad side effects to their post.

This mission ends on Friday 27th September at 8.PM. E.S.T.

Hide looked down at the facility below, his back on the two mercenaries. Tonight was the night they had planned for, a dark one. at his sides were five of the newest additions to the Rhug’na’ru. They were to loot the facility, as silent as the night they were attacking in. behind them were five more tribals; these ones older with more experience on a mission such as this. They would go down with the youngins and help to secure their goals: computer devices able to locate more raw oil, refiner plans and hopefully an explanation to their usage, and whatever weapons they can get. The weapons were on the bottom of the priority list.

“Tonight we strike, young ones.” He looked each of them in the eye. “In the darkness those two,” He motioned to Lord Mada and Black Lorne. “will take out the seven on the third floor, covertly of course. You ten will repel down from the Hindengog and enter the facility from said third floor.” He looked over at his helmsmen. “Myself and De’rol will be waiting in the clouds until we can see one of you on the top of the building.” He handed one the older ones a small gas lantern. “Leave this on the roof, hidden, and light it when you need to get out. At that time we will lower ropes down and lower ourselves as well. From that point onward speed is everything, climb up as fast as you can, we will be pulling the ropes up.” He sighed and looked them over again. “If you are not on the third floor within five minutes of the lantern being lit, you will be left behind. At that point you will meet us at the preassigned location south of the facility for pickup in one day’s time.” He looked away. “If you survive that is. The facility will be blown up by our acquaintances soon after we leave. They will hopefully have the petrol and crude oil tanks in their shadow leyas things, so don’t try to take any petrol. It will slow you down. We will be leaving quite quickly with what you have, so be sure it is worthwhile.”

“Only grab computer parts and schematics. Put them in your bags and get out quickly, be careful around the guards below. Hopefully, by the time you get to them, they will either be dead or incapacitated by either Lord Mada or Lorne. Loot the bodies for weapons only if the weapons are small enough to fit in our bags, otherwise do not bother. You will need both your hands to climb up into the Hindengog.” He smiled at them. “Be very happy the honor of the looting has been bestowed upon you! The way of the Rhug’na’ru speaks through your actions tonight! We will loot their house and leave it burning!”

(I have to leave for work soon, happy at least someone posted before I had to leave heh)

Doctor Leonard Bones was a bit bored with this work, he normally worked with people but due to personnel shortages he had been asked to come out of his previous mission. He had been previously working undercover in the colonies to learn more about the other races to learn how best to deal with the anatomy of each one. Now he was working on fuel derivatives, of course he could do it, but a lot less satisfying. Now that he was in charge of this facility he kept things on alert, with so many other Church instillation falling it was only a matter of time before this one was attacked. Sadly he had no leyas users, he learned to appreciate these powers while infiltrating a group of aliens in the last few years. He made sure that the fire suppression systems were up to date and working effectively and that the patrolling soldiers were maintaining discipline. Every department would have multiple radios to prevent communications from being cut off, and would place the facility on lock down and mobilize attack squads to contain any assaults.

When the facility is attacked Dr Bones shall trigger the alarm and call up reinforcements from the lower floors, preferably soldiers with liquid Nitrogen sprayers, Dr Bones wanted frozen specimens to work with. The enemy shall be suppressed with the compressed Air Spearguns, while the nitrogen sprayers flanked the enemy and hosed them down.

If the enemy looks like they are taking the advantage Dr Bones shall withdraw from the facility taking copies of the most important data while radioing command to tell them that the facility is falling and to bombard the site. The rest of the soldiers shall attempt to contain the enemy until the bombing. Naturally being told that reinforcements are on the way and they need to keep the enemy there until they are surrounded and destroyed.

If there are any floodlights they shall sweep the sky looking for the infiltration point (i.e. the airship) if located the Antaris shall begin firing to try to knock it from the sky.

In the unlikely possiblity that the church forces push the Olgogs out, Leonard shall report his success and not have the facility destroyed. Also informing the Church "Damnit I’m a medical doctor not a fuel jockey! Now give me a lap where I can experiment on living creatures rather then fuel. (You know I like that line on the more likely scenario that the facility falls Dr. Bones shall say that after escaping)

The moment had finally arrived. When night fell, Lord Mada nodded to Harlas and activated his Bone Rings’ Catlike Reflexes. “It’s time.” Following the plan, they would shadow walk down to the third floor of the facility. Upon arrival, Mada would use Hide in Shadows until they were both ready to strike. He’d take out isolated targets first. Staying out of sight in the shadows until he was as close as possible, then getting behind him and quietly slitting the Earther’s throat with his Uth sword before he can make a sound, then quickly hiding the body. He’ll try this again with as many of them as he can before blowing their.

Once they’ve been spotted, Mada will use a chill shield on himself and create a wall of shadows at each of the doors, attempting to fire chill bolts at the Bishops’ weapons to disable them, then running into melee combat with his sword. Between he and Harlas, they should be able to disable or kill the Bishops. Once they succeed in taking the Earthers out, Lord Mada will begin looking for the things that Hide described (blueprints, schematics, scanners, etc.) and storing them in his shadow cocoon. If any of the Bishops still live, Mada will knock them out and put them in the shadow cocoon as well.

They vampyre will then shadow walk outside to inspect the petrol storage tanks. If they are not attached to anything, he will untie his robe and begin to work as many as he can into his cocoon. By this time, hopefully Harlas and the tribals will have finished looting, and Mada will signal the olgogs on the roof of the refinery that he is about to begin destroying it. He’ll wait five minutes before calling the I’tashi war dragon out of his cocoon, getting on its back and taking to the sky. Lord Mada will order his nightmare penguin in the dragon’s cockpit to circle once or twice before initiating a magi-cannon strafing run on the refinery. Every now and then, the dragon would swoop down using its teeth and claws to attack the Anti-Air strider if it’s active. Once the facility is sufficiently in ruin, Mada will order his penguin pilot to fly him back to the rendezvous to give the tribals what they came for.

(OOC: Lord Mada is equipped with his Artificed Raider Mail (Become a Shadow, Shadow Walk, Lava Walk, Working Shadow, Fire Leap, Translate), Uth Blade (Working Shadow, Vampire Touch, Shieldbreaker, Destroy Ward), and Bone Rings under his Artificed Robe (Working Fire, Shadow Cocoon). The war dragon is the same as in the Northern Kingdoms guide.)

Hide thought a moment longer, standing next to De’rol. “If they spot us, be prepared to fly up and away. We will loop back around after a few minutes, if it comes to it. When we do, we will fire upon the anti-air gun, we can’t allow it to take us out.” He turned to look down at the station once more.

((This is if they are spotted. If they are not, Hide will fire upon the anti air gun with a rocket from one of their rocket launchers as they are leaving))

Lorne observed the facility from above, taking in the sights of the refinery. Receiving the nod from Mada, he returned the nod and shadow walked down as well. He was well prepared for the venture, having equipped a heavy black hooded cloak over his plate mail. A heavy bladed dagger, freshly sharpened hung beside a hemp rope crusted with blood stains. A hand and a half sword hung on the other side, but he didn’t want to use that yet. He also had created shadow cocoons for the purpose of making looting easier. Observing the guard patrols, he made note of any locations that were more secluded and kept them in mind. Taking a deep breath, he prepared himself. He cast Hide in Shadows as well as Shadow Shroud on himself.

He proceeded to jump to a red bishop on the outside of the routes, and seized him in a strangulari grip with his rope. He would then Shadow Walk with the body and stow it in a quiet place after cutting his throat with the dagger or simply strangling him. To the last red bishop that remained, he would try a new technique. Holding the man down after stunning him with a blunt strike from his mailed fist, he would thrust Nightmare Fleshworms into his mouth and let them go to work. He would proceed to fling the body infested with worms at one of the doorways which accessed the lower floors.

If either he or Mada managed to be caught during this time and had to fight, he would allow the fools to know why he was the finest blade south of Chooru. His hand and a half sword would cut a bloody path through them as he shadow walked and placed a Chill shield on himself to avoid damage from the nitrogen sprayers, which he had the unpleasant experience of being frozen by previously.

Allowing Mada to go to work on the petrol tanks, Lorne would look for more…special objects. He would also turn on leyas sight to discern anything truly interesting. He would of course also try to find blueprints and such during this time.

He had a special plan for the fools in the Antaris Anti-Air Strider. Lord Mada had done Lorne a favor in a previous mission by artificing Death Blast onto his sword. He thoroughly wanted to observe its effects on a machine such as this. If there was still time and the Rhug’na’ru weren’t trying to demolish the facility he would try it out. If there is no time left, he would shadow walk back to the rendezvous.
