Goblin Lands 2 Peacekeeper Mission Week 19: The Reaping of Karov

#1

With an influx of ferals from across the north and south of the Goblin Lands, people mixed whose tribes had not met in hundreds of generations. They shared language, they shared food, and shared bitter stories of being driven out of their homes. They each spoke of their trail of tears, walking the unfamiliar lands, and watching family drop dead of starvation. Families who had barely survived in their ancestral homelands simply did not have the skills to survive in completely foreign lands.

Brezan ferals who had survived based on their size to scare away threats found themselves quickly dwarfed by the Mighty Yadols. Drawn by the smell of the Brezan Stalker carrion some ferals carried as a final meal, the Mighty Yadols crushed and killed many.

Others became food for the Ontors. The winged feline predators plucked the ferals up with the ease of an eagle snatching a hare.

It was with fear and terror already in their hearts that the ferals finally arrived in Karov. Then the Karovian plague began ravaging the feral communities. Its source was unknown. Disappearances in the refugee encampments have become common place.

The diseases seem easy enough to cure for local Uhryus going out to help the ferals. Then once the Uhryus leave, the sicknesses come back, and in force.

Many tribal communities are growing concerned about the festering issue of diseases coming out of Karov. There are three regions of Karov under current attention.

Region 1- UtR controlled hunting grounds of the Yagogi.

Region 2- Reservations administrated by the GulTor’Uf

Region 3- Deep Canyonlands controlled by the Tor’lallur

Important Questions for your post:

1- How many Olgogs do you send in, and to what Regions do you send them (any one Olgog can only act in one region for the purpose of this mission.)

2- What is your plan to combat the spread of disease? (or spread disease, or simply wipe out Ferals)

3- Do you do anything to show respect to the Tribe in charge of the region?

4- Do you actively alter traditional behaviors or do you seek to cure the outbreaks with minimal interference?

(no one knows that Tor’lallur is behind the diseases in this mission)

Mission Rules
First player to post gets a repost when all other players have finished posting to the mission in response to all other actions.
All other players may only make 1 posting.
Other players may only act as if they have seen the action of the first player who posts.
All other actions are compressed together by the DR team with a focus on storyline, so do not worry about paradoxes between different action posts.
Not every aspect of every action will be shown. This is especially true of actions that exceed two paragraphs.

Special Challenges:1) Don’t Metagame it, even though its tempting. 2)A Diplomatic solution will garner a larger reward than a militaristic one. 3) Any tribe that wants may use this mission to continue their ethnic cleansing of the ferals.

Open to all tribes and all mercs

This mission ends on Friday April 4 at 8.PM. E.S.T.

#2

Gultoruf was tasked with helping the ferals,

the 18 uhryu apprentices and 10 adepts of gultor’uf gathered in 3 groups,

7 Uhryu and 4 adepts to the UTR controlled territory
7 Uhryu and 4 adepts to the Deep Canyonlands
4 Uhryu and 2 adepts traveled in Gultoruf’s own territory.

They were tasked primarily to aid the sick, and to locate the source of the disease. Checking the water and food, trying to find a common source from the words they had. By speaking to the ontors and other creatures of what they know, each notices different things and one may know the source of the disease. By having the ontors that stay with gultoruf speak with the ones that ride the wind, they were hoping to prevent them from consuming the olgogs by creating a better relationship with them.

If possible, and the gogs were familar with the leyas, they would be shown ways to purify the air, water and food as a percaution.

#3

The smell of smoke and ash accompanied the Black Legion column as it marched forth from Ka’Rhug. It it were some 30 legionnaires and about a half dozen hellhounds and imps. Two Balgogs lumbered behind, striding ominously in the army’s wake. At the head of the legion was Kolgol himself, shouldering a large steel war axe and an armor-fiend cloak over his traditional furs, giving him a grim visage.

Plague was something that Ka’Rhug knew well, It had run rampant in the early days of the tribe, long before even Kolgol’s predecessor took control. In those days, the spread of disease had been stopped by burning the dead, and sealing off those who were sick from those who were healthy. Those were dark days for Ka’Rhug, and left traditions in the tribe that have been carried on to even modern times. However, Kolgol knew he was on everyone’s bad list at the moment for openly burning bodies, so he would take a different approach.

He would set up a camp in the Yagogi hunting grounds of the UTR, (the only place he technically was justified to help in), and would reinforce it, constructing a few squat buildings and a low earthen-work wall with wood sharpened stakes set facing outwards. He would use this as a base of operations for the area, sending out patrols and coordinating friendly UTR efforts there. They would dig wells in the camp, purifying the water and then distributing it to the locals. Fresh fruits and vegetables from the orchard at the Axefalls would be sent in occasional supply drops to the camp, providing healthy food for sick natives to eat. The patrols he sent out would report native activities, and would put down riots and looting that was potential in scenarios such as this. Each patrol would consist of 7 legionaries, 2 hellhounds, and an imp scout.

These were the main obvious goals for camp Cleansing Fire, however, it also had a more secret, and more cryptic purpose. Beneath the camp, in a large chamber set deep in the stone, a shrine would be constructed. It would connect to the central buildings and would allow minimal traffic into it. It was of course, a place of last rites, a place for those who were beyond the help that Ka’Rhug could give. Dying patients would be kindly asked if they would accept Kalok as their savior and deity, and those that accepted would be given a simple symbol of kalok, a carved obsidian shard in the rough shape of an eye, and would then be immolated with fire.

Those that did not accept the blessing would be left to their fate, albeit made as comfortable as possible by the attendants, and would be buried in pits behind the camp upon death. In this way, he hoped to avoid the ire of people that didn’t like him burning olgogs that didn’t follow his beliefs.

(Note: Automatons will be used as often as possible when interacting with sick patients, to avoid contamination. Comm crystals have been implanted into some of them for this express purpose.)

#4

The four Aufgogs of Or’Lur gathered the eight gOl’ol, Ka’lal and Uf’ogmak. The_group of 14 set out to the hunting grounds of the Yagogi. They stopped in on the allied tribes in the area, seeing what they needed and what has been done to fight the plague. Each would use the leyas to track any changes or anomalies in the environment, while using the skills of the two Tor’og apprentices to remain hidden from the ferals.

#5

Tor’lur blessed Shaman of filth led 15 of his apprentices out of his village to head into the infected areas, they would split up into group of 5 and 1 leader. Tor’Lur would lead the main group into the reservations administrated by the GulTor’Uf, Kor’ya would lead his 5 into the deep Canyon lands controlled by the Tor’lallur, and Lok’ab, the diplomat of Tor’Lallur would lead his 5 into UtR controlled hunting grounds of the Yagogi. That last area would require his more tactful approach not to bother anyone.

In each region a gift shall be given to the local leaders. A totem to ward away sickness (symbolic not an artifact) Along with a barrel of water (non artificed) Each leader shall be polite and promise to do no harm to anyone within the lands not controlled by Tor’Lallur.

In each area they would approach the largest group of ill Olgogs and then begin speaking “GOGS! You ill, that sad. Tor’Lallur help with sick. We know pain, we take pain.” Then the leader of each group would go to one of the sicker Olgogs and place his hands upon them. He would draw out the illness and totally restore the Olgog. “We remove sick from Gog. Make better! Have power to make all sick Gog better. However, here sick so strong. Need holy place save all Gog. Sacred Cave have power, cure all sick Gog! Tor’Lallur no promise cure today, sick tomorrow. Other Gog give cure, no last. Tor’Lallur promise, never sick again. Holy Cave make you never sick! Agree come with, then you never sick again!”

Each group shall gather as many Olgogs that agree to come with them. If some groups need more convincing the leaders shall draw some of their illness away, just enough for them to feel a bit better. Those who so sick that cannot move shall be cured just enough for them to travel. Claiming that the Holy Cave will be enough to cure them totally. The apprentices only tasks are to help organize people and help the most ill move. They shall let the leaders of the group draw out the illnesses.

Once the groups are led to the Pit they shall be lined up around it. A ceremony shall begin. Tor’lur blessed Shaman of filth shall lead it.

“Oh, Holy Pit, save Gog from sick! Give power to Gog to master sick! Make sick serve instead of kill! Take Gog in you, give back Gogs of power! Holy Pit, We give Gogs to you, never get Sick again!”

Then the tribal members of Tor’Lallur shall force the other Olgogs into the Pit. Many will die of course, some will emerge stronger and better then before. Death or conversion…they will never face illness again. Tor’Lallur keep their word, no lie. They will welcome their new brothers and sisters, all are equal before the Pit. All are mighty before the Pit. All shall serve, under Pit.

Any who attempt to come into Tor’Lallur lands shall be greeted with several totem warning people away. Spikes covered in filth shall be arranged symbolically in a traditional do not enter sign that other Olgogs will recognize, a warning not a threat. Anyone who still enters shall be greeted by 4 Tor’Lallur tribesman. “No in Tor’Lallur land. Sick round here. You no be sick. Tor’Lallur help sick. Thank for concern. Go home, be well! After sick gone. You visit then, Tribe leaders speak then. Ok, bye bye, good day! May Tla fill you daily!”

#6

Mama Rapigog was happy Yagogi didn’t need UTR assistance. Besides healing leyas being anathema to her kind, she worried about the disease spreading. If healing leyas failed to cure the disease returning olgogs could carry it with them and cause it to spread to every province.

Elder Bor’ol would reach out to tribal elders in Unen ask them to watch for any sick olgogs exhibiting symptoms of the plague as well as avoid Karov till the disease passed.

Elder Vtalog will act as emissary to the other families. She would ask the other Bruskti families to look out for the illness, particularly in feral olgogs passing through the area. She would stress not to take it upon themselves and “cure” the plague.

If sick olgogs were reported in GUTS lands Mama Rapigog would hold an emergency council meeting to decide whether to request aid from the other factions (And which ones). If Cap’n Dol could negotiate reopening of trade rumors of a plague would shut it down faster again than the Mag’Deral terrorist attacks.

If sick olgogs were reported in UTR controlled territory in Unen Mama Rapigog would petition for immediate UTR assistance. Better to stop a fire when it’s a spark than when its engulfed your home.

#7

Dead surgeon Ar’Twa would head to the deep Canyonlands. His purpose was two fold. First him and his 5 guards (Standard Dead) would be collecting any bodies they could find of fallen ferals. The second was to ask Tor’Llalur permission to borrow some of the plague Kolgul that wandered the canyons. He would promise to bring them back better than ever. The Dead Jester Rompus had a plan for them that made the black void where his heart used to be skip a beat.
Dead Surgeon Yin’Leng and his 5 guards would be sneaking into the Gul Tor Uf lands as they were likely unwelcome. They would hold to the shadows, luckily it seemed everyone was too busy worrying about the living to care about the dead. He would collect bodies and a void all contact with other tribes. Petty uses of shadow leyas, making the shadows as creepy as possible, purple icy fire shot at the ground, etc to scare off the ferals.
Dead Surgeon Hogar’ten and his 5 guards were charged with sneaking into Yagogi’s lands. They would also use the terrain and shadows to avoid all contact with the tribes, they weren’t here to fight. Once again the tribes cared more about the living than the dead. Leyas would be used to scare the feral olgogs away and do them no harm.
Dead Captain Castiel made it very clear they were not to attack unless attacked first, and to help the tribes if they required it (Any dead from the tribes would be returned to the tribe). They were merely collecting dead ferals.

#8

Lord Grimaldus read the reports of plague in various lands in Karov. Those were too close, something would have to be done. He wrote up orders and had them read out to the towns in his lands and the surrounding lands.

“By order of Lord Grimaldus, leader of the Provisional Colony within the Goblin Lands, due to the recent outbreak of Plague in Karov, there shall be a quarantine of the boarder. No one shall be allowed into the Colony’s lands from the lands of Karov until it is confirmed that the outbreak has been eliminated. Anyone coming into these lands from other locations must be checked for signs of disease before being allowed to enter. There are no exceptions. Anyone who attempts to go around these measures will be assumed to be purposefully spreading disease and will be stopped and checked. If they do carry disease they shall be executed and burned, if not they will be escorted to the boarder and removed, violently if necessarily. We thank you for your cooperation and hope that this epidemic fades quickly so the boarders can be reopened.”

In addition Grimaldus shall send a request to the EEF requesting additional medical supplies, to guard against possible epidemics.

#9

OtO walked back into Gultor’uf camp, it was a good place to get supplies in this blasted desert. The usually groupings and organizations were gone, with many more gogs running around sick. This is one of the few times that he wished he could radio the EEF.

But he couldn’t, so he had to deal with it in any way he could.

His medical knowledge was dwarfed by the knowledge of gultor’uf, it is probably why so many of the sick were gathered at this tribe. The chaos around him, with gogs almost tripping themselves to get from one place to another. Some were dead with the sick, there was just no organization at this scale. But this is one thing military discipline can help with.

Calling upon his gogs, the 40 Ur Rhugs, he gives specific instructions when they arrive. The little time he had with them, gave them some sort of idea to handle as a proper soldiers, and what organization was expected of them. Now they get to do it for this tribe and the sick and dying. Organizing the sick into lines, making sure that the other gogs have easy ways to get to them, so they can concentrate on healing. That is what they were to do. And if a gog died, they were to pick the body up, clean the equipment, and store the body in a safe place until they can be revived.

One he would send back to Mag Buskt, to update on this epidemic, and to see if he can send and plague vampyres to consume the sickness the gogs have.

And then he would leave, after hearing that the reshedians were being attacked by giants, it sounds like something that delur the nomad would be involved with . . .

#10

Lalder knew they had to figure out what was killing the ferals. The disease looked more like an active attack than how a normal disease passes. When a normal disease is cured, it moves on to new unaffected gogs, it doesn’t reinfect those just treated.

Lalder would send out 4 groups to track down the source of the disease. Each group will contain:

[ul]
[li]1 Auf (Lalder and Lalog’na both have summoning)[/li][li]1 or more Summoners[/li][li]2 Ur Rhug[/li][li]2 FKM Olgogs[/li][li]1 Tribesmen (Pilot and Farmers kit).[/li][li]1 Goblin Raider[/li][/ul]
Lalder tells the groups “Your main mission is to find the sick and try to find the disease source.

Each of you have a ring of healing. Cure the disease amongst yourselves so you don’t pass it around as you travel. If you find a group of Ferals. Use the Auf or Raiders to talk to them. Which ever works better. Each Auf will try to cure the sick, another gog will purify their water sources. And the last few gogs will try to see what is causing the disease.

For a larger groups, Send a message to the gogs of Gang of the Uf Mag’og. They will bring in their healing ships.

For tracking the disease, this will be harder. We have not tried this much. To start, use the dowsing sticks (Speak to plants, locate disease), to see if you can track anything through the plants, see if you can detect anything in their food or water.

Next, use Leyas sight on the sick, see if its induced by some sort of Leyas.

Next, Summoning Leyas may work to sniff out something, or track any group that might be sick and spreading the disease, with or without knowledge that they are doing it. Try summoning a Growling, a Cerberus, or the Chimera. Check if they can track Gogs, sick gogs, or the disease themselves. Try different things. If you get a lead, use the comm crystals to share the information if you find out anything.

At first we are going to have to stick within our lands and the UtR lands. Request permission from the local tribe to help if you can. Unless GulTor’Uf requests help. If you come across their tribe, request permission to pass through. If they ask for help, do what you can.”

Once Lalder was done talking, They split up into the 4 groups, and in Lur Union Fighters, each headed out to search out the cause of the disease. The Chimera’s leashes would be used for mounts as well.

Special Equipment:
Disease Dowsing Stick - (From farmers kit) Using Earth and Healing together to locate diseased plants (Locate and Healing Leyas together), and Speak with Plants to get how the plant feels.

Olav looked at the fields below them, the three airships making their way across the skies toward their destination: The Hunting fields of the Yagogi, an odd name to be sure but no difference, there was a problem here. A plague of sorts, they had received the intel earlier in the week and sat on it for some time, thinking over the best course of action. Hide had come up with the best idea of the group: send one Olgog down to be the communicator with the ground forces, specifically the Ka’rhug who had relayed information regarding the construction of a base of operations in the area to help the diseased population. Whether he had other plans wasn’t their concern, they just needed a safe place to dock above.
His forces would stay in the airships as the one representative would go down and establish communications with the Ka’rhugians. He will not be allowed back up onto the airship until the situation is cleared up, in case the worst happened to him. The Olgog chosen was Ab’tla’rhug, one of the initial members of the Rhug’na’ru, for lack of a better term. He was a fairly good speaker and could undoubtedly help them establish a connection with the tribes there. He knew it wouldn’t be that simple however.
They had caused much of the Feral’s displacement, more than likely, and they would more than likely not appreciate the airships floating over their sick. They had brough simple bedding and jugs of water, boiled from the ocean. Of course, if there were any immutable in the feral tribes, they would provide medicine or nanite-syringes to try and help. Mostly it would deter any of those that would rather wipe them out from attacking the sick in the base. He took a swig from his canteen and scanned the lands below.
They had attached a biplane to the bottom of each Hindengog to deal with any threats outside their weapons range. They would be deployed in the air from a large height, allowing the pilot to climb inside and detach into a free fall, into a glide to start their engine. Although, if there was flat land around the base they would drop them off for a much safer takeoff from the ground. That was all they felt they could provide, not being able to provide the healing the Ka’rhug may be able to.

#12

Using 10 Censor Craft, with 20 vandals and 1 tla’or-using Ur Rhug, led by a generic Goblin King (except Rapiogna, who leads the expedition), they would patrol the tribal lands of the Yagogi, healing the sick using the censor-craft’s abilities. They’d create mobile healing centers, taking instruction from the UTD tribals on the ground, offering to purify water sources.

Their goal was to try to focus on healing the sick so that their UTD allies could find the source of sickness.

Rapiogna would also send a message to the tribal lands of Gul’tor Uf (the Alya messenger), offering to send a censor craft or two to help them cure their sick. The message would be as follows: “The Gang of the Uf Mag’og offer their assistance to heal the sick if you need it. While we may not see eye to eye, the Goblin King Urog does not forget your kind offer to teach the Brezans Karovian customs while in the presence of May Auf Yyanyi.” If their tribals accept, do so.

Equipment for vandals and generic goblin kingz, standard, except using hob’tor weapons.
For Ur Rhug - Nightmare hide armor, hob’tor weapons, all have water lvl 3 in addition to shadow lvl 3. 2 have LR 4.
Rapionga - adept, gen lvl 1, summoning 3, Brezan Lance forged by Protodoxa. Shieldbreaker at 4 successes. Ongagob cream should she need it, plenty of urya to go around should gang members need it.

Note: Other than a simple message to GulTor’Uf, let the other UTD members handle diplomacy.

#13

Om’me ghang, wearing his pin of the armies of eloga, entered GulTor’Uf’s lands. He looked Karovian in stature, but was otherwise unarmed.

“I am Om’me ghang, and I am in the employ of the Armies of Eloga. As you are an ally of the grandest army of Der’al, I have come to help you un your time of need. I hace minor healing abilities, which may be of service. I can’t cure disease, but I might be otherwise of service.”

Unless otherwise instructed to do something specific, om’me would listen for rumors and seek out “odd behaviors”. As usefulness, he’d use levitate to help build structures, move things, farm, hunt, Cast light, cast halo, remove fear… Otherwise, he’s essentially spying. He’s looking for a source of illness, mag Der’al, or other ill doings. He’s going to otherwise stay away from ferals if left to his volition. If there’s a way to relay information to Bill that casts him in a good light, he’ll do it. Otherwise, save it for a rainy day.

VLAD Report Theta 3453

A plague has spread through the Karov region, locals are sending various groups to investigate and contain the plague. Looks like there isn’t a unified effort, just individual tribes doing their own thing. An few exceptions of several tribes working together but they are in the minority. Most are picking a singular location, others are spreading out, looks like some are just barging around. Will keep informed of progress, will send additional report when more information can be gleemed. Continuing to monitor native actions.

Agent Brooke, out.
