Goblin Lands 2 Intermission Bonus Event: The Karovian Conclave of 2219

#1

There were many who viewed the Karovian Conclave of 2219 as a turning point in the culture of the Goblin Lands. Previous to this Conclave anything remotely resembling an undead being or a cursed being was hunted without mercy across the Goblin lands. The Gor’abs of Karov considered it their sacred duty to stand against any corruption of the spirit that they encountered. A sacred duty they owed to ancient alliances and royal treaties forged between the ancient Olgog tribes and the dimension-traveling Falosini.
Each yearly conclave was a group meeting where all the tribal leaderships across the Karovian nomads could join together to decide how their culture should evolve. And three speakers brought home the realness of their long held traditions to the youth of Karov. For generations to come, the Karovians would speak about how the conclave changed Karov and as a whole the Goblin Lands.
The first great result of the Grand Karovian Conclave of 2219 was the declaration of the Shadow Dome of Karov as neutral ground. Uhryu Bill’s many assertions that the Gultor’Uf were not claiming the ruins of Karov as their own led the many Uhryus and Mag’ols to declare it a place of free travel open to all Olgogs. Even beings like Undead and Vampyrs would be allowed to travel the deserts of Karov as long as their declared destination was the Shadow Dome.
The Gor’abs would keep watch on them, to make sure they were not diverting, not setting up settlement outside the ruins. But as long as they kept within the lands so designated the Karovians would not execute them on sight. It was a huge win for the Wintermute Quarter which soon became the largest minority group in the Shadow Dome of Karov. Their presence in the Goblin Lands soon drew representatives from the Unity, the I’tashi Alliance, the House Borvis, Fort Lendill and the Kasanthian Federation. Each seeking to increase their influence in the region.
The PeaceLords of Boriel followed them, soon gaining great strides in allying with the disparate tribes of Wild Giants displaced by the Yyan Empire’s raiding. While Brez, Karov, Unen and Tla’loc’al were entertaining guests from across the continent of Vima, the mountains in between the Goblin Lands and the Lost Colonies was teeming with the war efforts of the Yyan Empire.
EEF orbital satellites reported clouds of thick coal smoke from the infernal smithies of the Yyan Empire, now filling the skies above the mountain ranges between the two civilizations. What deals the Grand Magi Boriel of the Glacial Wastes has currently made are unknown, but the Yyan have been sending Olgog slaves into Der’al Collective lands with advanced artificed weapons and vehicles for sale. None of these riches ever reached the UtR lands, only stories of them and unfortantely some devastation left behind by their use on the borders.
The second major effect of the Grand Conclave of 2219 was the rebellious spirit of the Lost Generation of Karov. One half of the young Mag’ols, Uhyrus, and Gor’abs who attended the conclave didn’t wait for the Uhryus of the conclave to assign them to new tribes.
Instead they left to join one of three rogue theologies.
One third of the lost generation of Karov left the old nomadic ways to join the Wild Gor’abs. They were so sickened by what they saw as corruption of their values in the legalization of Vampyrism and Undeath, that they fled before the conclave was over. They left with the old and angry Gor’abs who wanted a clear line between the untainted living Olgogs and all others. Thus the hate filled attacks by the Wild Gor’abs increased against certain targets, especially those of the Shadow Dome for which they withdrew all support. They launched lightning raids against the Shadow Dome’s inhabitants when they could find them on the old paths outside the dome. They never set foot inside the Ruins of Karov if given the choice.
However this strict orthodoxy was not without its benefits. They listened closely to the words of Auf Lalyan, and they put as much effort into hunting down and destroying the Neliff threat. Months of hunting it did take, but it is said that all the Neliff in the lands of Karov have been exterminated.
The real truth is that the Wild Gor’abs achieved this by having their Flesh and Spirit Dwellers interrogated the dead Neliff to find out ways to wipe out the alien parasites. The Wild Gor’abs have refused to openly share these techniques with others.

Another third of the Lost Generation, primarily Uf Maks, saw the immense truth in the words of acceptance and tolerance spoken by the representatives. They stayed till near the end but found themselves drawn to the intensity with which Sarhana spoke about her devotion to Krodnok.
They knew nothing of Krodnok but knew they did not look forward to the life of dusty trails and setting traps for ravenous kolgul under the hot sun. They wondered what new things they could look forward to, and declared Sarhana their Ur’uhryu and left the conclave with her to return to the Underground city of Krodnok. Ur’uhryu Sarhana was elated as she left Karov. She just hoped her god could provide for the thousand strong which followed her.
The last third of the Lost Generation left the conclave in disgust. They believe in the traditions that placed the Shatter Sun tribe as the true leaders of all of Der’al. They had grown up on the stories of the brave Mag’ols and their many victories against the many gor that threatened the Olgog tribes in pre-history and into modern times. When they saw Rapi’og stand up to the Uhryus, and then saw that it seemed they might deny him a tribe, these misguided Olgog juveniles assumed he was simply nobly standing before corruption. They ignored Bill’s accusations of Rapi’og as being a version from a different timeline, going so far as to call it more Uhryu propaganda. They went a step further and turned it into a strength, making battle flags for the Og’Gultor that showed shattered pieces of crystal. They assembled it into a pattern resembling a sunburst and called themselves the true Shattered Sun tribe. Meanwhile Rapi’og led them into the fertile Trail of Auf Mag’lal to train and live in the most fertile part of the Goblin Lands.
Karov found itself short on a generation, and many tribes suffered for it. The Karovian ways were nearly lost that year as famine struck, but food from the UtR fed them, and donations from the Earther colonies clothed many a tribe. Each subsequent generation of Karovians viewed Earthers with less and less suspicion.
