Goblin Lands 2 Heroic Mission WEEK 18: Circus of the Enemy

#1

In the middle of the Goblin Lands, caravans have been reporting back finding a circus surrounding the entrance to a deep sandy ravine.
The Cirque du Gor is run by a strange leering, wizened old Earther who goes by the name of Emerald, and welcomes all species.
Emerald acts as MC for the six acts; the Sword Swallower, the Fire Breather, the Juggler, the Knife thrower, the Trick Shot, and the Strongest Champion.
Each in turn stepped forth into the main tent and performed for the crowd. The Sword Swallower was a whispy thin female K’iorn, the Fire Breather was a thick and strong female K’iou, the Juggler was a male Vorin, the Knife thrower a male Bastard, and the trick shot a male Kumfei.
After each performance Emerald addressed the crowd, “Come one and all, test your mettle! Are you hotter than a boiling kettle? Ready to release upon these sands, the perfection of skill of an artisan? Let loose the blood and violate your senses, for the Cirque Du Gor is experimental. Who is willing to challenge the Maestro in their skill of choice?”

[This part will be entered by the actions of all players who choose to challenge a member of the Cirque du Gor in their skill, Sword Swallowing, Fire Breathing, Juggling, Knife Throwing, Trick shots with springshots, bows, crossbows, or firearms]

At the beginning of the sixth act, a wild giant is brought into the main tent. It used a pair of rusted out hovercars as weights for lifting. The tent lifted on one side revealing the sandy ravine. Darkness had now settled upon the Circus and the sky was alight with stars. Then the Wild Giant hooted and gave a glare over at the ravine whose darkness held unknown horrors.
The wild giant walked over to the edge of the ravine, reaching down into the sand and revealing four leg chains, sized for a human, each with long metal chain down into the ravine. He held them aloft with one hand, while clamping a still larger one onto his own leg. Each of the five chains were independent of each other, and clamped onto…something… down in the ravine.

Emerald will greet the contestants and say, “Welcome to this hardest of challenges, who is stronger? Gor, Yyan, Gog, Man, Child of the Falosini? You must hold your chain firm against all pulls and tugs from the beast that dwells in the ravine. The last one standing will be considered the Strongest Champion and achieve a greater prize than just any title could bear, a statue of the losers made of Finest Iron showing their final moments of pain and torment.”

Are you there to:

A) Challenge one of the Maestros in a skill. Please write up what your challenge would be (for example: Trick shot could be challenged to shoot a coin out of the air, and both player and Trick Shot would have to achieve the shot of hitting the coin out of the air, in that order.)

B) Assassinate Emerald: Anyone that runs a circus has to be up to no good right? Plus he’s all creepy!

C) Take the Strongest Challenge? Only first four players to post for trying the Strongest Challenge will be able to do so. If you see 4 players have already done the Strongest, pick one of the other five challenges instead!

Mission Rules
First player to post gets a repost when all other players have finished posting to the mission in response to all other actions.
All other players may only make 1 posting.
Other players may only act as if they have seen the action of the first player who posts.
All other actions are compressed together by the DR team with a focus on storyline, so do not worry about paradoxes between different action posts.
Not every aspect of every action will be shown. This is especially true of actions that exceed two paragraphs.

Special Challenges: Each of the Maestros are exceptionally skilled at what they do, creativity of the challenge will be key. Each challenge will have interesting consequences for the loser.
The Strength challenge is very dangerous but the rewards are epic. Only first four players whose posts talk about the Strength challenge will get a chance to do the Strength challenge.

Open to all tribes and all mercs

Tribes may send a maximum of 1 character to the Circus. Mercs are limited to themselves and any subcreatures under their control.

This mission ends on Friday March 14 at 8.PM. E.S.T.

Wrong login should be OtO

#3

OtO was tired of waiting, his armour taken away and needing the tools of his trade. He just go done writing another note to his former boss, Field Marshel stryyker, and could use a distraction.

The strength test was obvious to him, that is something he was good at, and he was also smart. The sight of the giant told him that he could very well win, as he was as strong as a giant. The giants stance told him much, the fact that he clamped it to his leg. It was in a bad place to try and get pulled from, to easy to be pulled down. If this was the case, this was meant to be lost by everyone. Not that it would be a simple task, it is probably the weight.

Olgog would take his place by the chain and wait. for the other contestents to appear

#4

Eric the devious. Self styled adventurer, hero of Jamesville (he was their), and Bruskti Sky Pirate (in training) Loved the circus. He had never been to one, but at the orphanage he was rescued from he had heard other kids talk about it and he knew he would love it. Also he was at all the battles for Jamesville and that was its own sort of circus.

As he ate some sweets he may or may not have acquired when the vendor was distracted with an adult customer he walked to the sign up area. For the magic and mystery the circus represented the person signing up others for challenges seemed bored, or was it something more. Eric didn’t spend much time thinking about it, “Sword Swallowing!” he declared before the man could ask. “And don’t worry I have a plan!” He quickly stated, also without the asking. The earther with a clip board shrugged and pointed him to an area.

Eric did in fact have a plan, he would create a portal of shadow walk in his mouth that would make the swords tip poke out somewhere discreet. He figured he could swallow a sword of any size this way. He also knew while amazingly clever he may not be the only one to think of this trick. He would wait for the right moment, when the Kiorn dervish (and any other challengers) were trying to swallow a sword so large it would seem impossible then he would shadow walk some water from his canteen up their noses. Hopefully they choked and spit out the sword. If they cut themselves, well what did they expect swallowing swords for a living? Eric would go to them and use conversion to heal them so they don’t die, he had enough blood on his hands he didn’t want to kill anyone, certainly not for a show.

Uf’ogmak did not listen while the elders told him why he was doing this, which is probably why Gul’Lul had hit him with that stone. In truth it wasn’t his fault. How was he supposed to pay attention when he was in the middle of some… important… things. And besides he got what he needed to do. Find Emeralds quarters, put everything into Glogs bag then set a trap behind whatever is being used to block the entrance to kill and cause alot of damage.

#6

Tooog’muuuuc the Pit Giant loved shows. When he heard that the Circus was in town (of course it had to be explained to him 20 times with small words) he was very excited. He would walk up to each of the preformers and smile and attempt to shake their hands. Of course his hand was bigger then some of the people preforming. He would clap and yell when the performers would do their tricks and cover his eyes during the scary parts, spreading his fingers enough to take a peak. He would watch the competitions with interests and give each of the winners a kiss and a hug, careful not to break too many bones when showing his affection. After the show ended he would harvest the outhouses into his pack as he was always told never to waste good waste.

A circus was being held, an event the solemn tribe of Ka’Rhug normally had little interest in. However, since there had been enough seriousness in the past weeks to satisfy even their stoic leader, some of Ka’Rhug had spoken in hushed tones about attending it. However, only one was bold enough to announce his intentions to the tribe and march off to the event. It was of course, Gor’mag the Ur’Tor of the line of Ka’mag. Following his sire’s infamous defeat, he decided that he needed to repair his family’s tarnished legacy and prove that their loyalty still burned as hot as the fires of Mt. Rhug. And so he arrived at the circus, and took in what was happening. He instantly was drawn to the fire breather and her cheap tricks. He scoffed, eager to prove that he could control fire better than any runty K’iou.

He would first, with a dramatic flare, raise his hands to his lips as if blowing a trumpet, but would instead cast a fire dart (Fire leyas lvl 1) and hold it high in the air with control fire (Fire leyas lvl 2). He would then, using his combined skill with the leyas and complete and utter faith in Kalok, increase the flame to an epic proportion above the crowd, shaping it into a massive fiery dragon shape. It would sweep over the crowd once, then disappear with a poof of smoke at his command.

(This is done outside of the main tent of course)

Gor’mag’s Stats:

Fire leyas- lvl 3 ( trained lvl 2 + 1 level from past mission rewards )

He also has a raised faith bonus to fire leyas because of his devout belief in Kalok

So there was absolutely not way that Scout was going to let some no-name circus vorin have the title of Maestro of Juggling. This was something he was very well versed in, and has had a ridiculous amount of practice. He would start his act by having the Maestro of Knife Throwing, working on his own act, but with Scout standing in front of his target. Each time Scout would catch his knives before they could actually hit their mark, whether it be the actual target, or Scout’s face while sticking his tongue out at the other bastard.

When the Maestro knife thrower ran out of blades, Scout would follow it up with the grand finale: catching a fired cannonball. It was a trick he had less experience with and hadn’t been attempted in some time, but he was still up for the task. It would be fired a him just a little higher and out of range, leaving room to catch and then acrobatically land on his own two feet. Damn, this was going to be smooth. After being blown to the opposite end of the tent, but doing exactly as promised: catching and tumbling and popping up to land on his feet, ending with the heroic cry of bastards around the world, “HUZZAH!!” He’ll tidy up his suit, look towards the vorin to say,“Your’re up!”

#9

Daron ((B Dragon) LR:4, Heal:3, Light: 1, Shadow:2, Water:1, General:2, Shape:3) (Strength 9).

Daron loved going to the Circus. While a soldier, he saw things like this when entertainment was brought in. There were the few happy memories that were training that he had. And then he got a chance to participate in a feat of Strength. HE couldn’t pass it up. But he had to make it a show as well.

Daron strode down to where the challenge was to hold the chain. He approached at first in his normal Olgog form with his trench coat flaring. Though he was small in this body, he still walked with the confidence of someone 5 times his size.

He walked up to the chain and picked it up. Just before the contest was to start, He would explode into his Dragon form (Minus the vorpal claws in his hand) full of strength. He would Dig in his claws into the ground and set himself from a pull. If he was loosing that, he would flare his wings out to give more force to his pull. Daron would play up the act as long as its still a show and a competition.

Goal: Win

Backup plan:
If this Turned into a combat (aka pulling a demonic monster from the ground that wants to devour all), Daron will put the monster down using all to his advantage (Vorpal claws, Fire breath, Acid breath, Strength, Hob Tor axe on his back).

Backup Plan 2:

If another contestant attacks his chain, Daron would spit a bit of acid on theirs after he moves and protects his chain.

Equipments:

Razor Claw Guantlets, Nightmare Hide Trenchcoat (artificed with Wilderness Camo), 2 Ear Rings (1st Life Shield/Obscure/ignore poison, 2nd Heal Internal 2 Succ), Warm aura necklace, Everlasting Waterskin and a shock stick (Pain dmg), Hab Tor Stone Axe ( Slung on Back)
Shields: LifeShield, Ignore poison

Ya’na was a wizened old Goblin King. He had no desire to lead the gang, but it didn’t mean he didn’t like to go out. He heard there was a circus, and thought to check it out. Besides, Urog sent him out. He had left on a censor craft with 30 other Ur Rhug, who rotated around the tents.

He saw his old friend Eric, with whom he became friends at Jamesville. He looked forward to seeing what Eric would do… until there was a test of strength. He knew enough to know it was a trap, especially when the infamous Olgog accepted the challenge first. But he couldn’t help himself. He snorted some of Shinefox’s Combat Drugs, made sure to activate his Fang of Unit 817 around his neck (catlike reflexes, animal senses, and cobra strike (3)), and he wore a stone bangle of Summon Sword fiend (3)… just in case. He was also happy he still had a tooth lying around at home, in case he didn’t make it. Urog would sure be unhappy, though, if he lost the artifacts.

Strategy: Hopefully, he would get the move on first and set himself accordingly to counter-pull. Using his increased strength (10 with the drugs), pull the beast up. If any one cheats, raise burst shield around himself and/or fireball. If he gets annoyed, fireball down the ravine to get a look at what’s down there (make it small so it doesn’t destroy the tent, don’t aim at where the chains are from, rather to a side of it, enough to see what it is).

One rule: Don’t die. When in doubt, burn it and then run. Breaking is ok too.

Standard Goblin King Elder.

Yigog didn’t like his mission. He was on his way south to toward Karov. But along the way, there was a circus. He found them entertaining. Maybe he’d get to dance later. He saw some old friends, Daron, though Daron wouldn’t recognize him, and Ya’na the Brezan. They were both in the contest of strength. Using Leyas Sight, he confirmed what was in the ravine.

He did not want his “friends” to lose. He would survey the area around him and find a place where he could use the Leyas without arising suspicion. He would use Levitation to help them maintain their footing, prevent others from attacking them, and keep them alive. If other contestants cheat, he would “even” the score. If the monster in the pit was shown/known to be evil, or something to be “fed”, he would shed light in the ravine and give the contestants a chance to protect themselves/know the enemy. If possible, he would find a way to save them (levitate away) if they were trapped/killed, gathering important belongings.

Burke didn’t like Emerald, and he hated Circuses ever since a clown tried to touch him in that alley. Well he wouldn’t let this go without saying something about it…well less saying and more shooting. However Burke also didn’t like the idea of having people shooting back at him so he would have others do his work for him.

Taking a good sniping position Burke would put on his heat vision goggles. Once he has identified who the challengers are and who the performers are he would continue. (he would try to identify them by size and shape as he knew from the promotional ads what kind species the Performers were) He would use his sniper laser rifle to fire a few shots at the feet of all of the competitors to “try to mess them up”. That way it looks like the challenges are rigged. This should inspire some anger at Emerald, hopefully someone will go the rest of the way and make this performance his last. If some clowns also got killed…bonus.

Cougar was one of the few female Kingz that joined up with the Yagogi. She was in her hayday, living up to her name and getting one of them young Ur Maks to take her out to the circus. This particular pup’s name was Torgog Yi’yamak or something like that. He had been interested in the idea of competing in the circus, but Cougar wanted him there as more. On their way, he had talked her into the idea of competing but in her own way.

She was of great strength, but with addition of the Olgogolem pendant armor, he was as strong as a giant or even power armor. Cougar’s plan was to power up the armor, and use the golem’s GLOP ability to anchor herself to the ground and to the chains.

Torgog Yi’yamak had dreams of competing in the knife throwing event. Bastards were known as great marksmen, so she was going to make it so that he couldn’t hit the mark. He would throw a spear at the target and making a bullseye, then offer for the bastard to hit the same spot. Here was the real trick, he was going to take the spears and knock the bastard throws off target, hitting a moving target off the spot and keeping it up for as long as he could.

OtO saw gogs come and pick up the chains, how foolish to just use there hands, the shackle was an important part to this test. This was much less of a strength test that it was an intelligence test. Brute strength never wins these things, it is always technique combined with strength.

Of these giants OtO knew of there endurance, this was about the long haul, not the initial burst of strength.

Knowing this right before the match starts, OtO makes a double loop in the chain. Onlookers look surprised, as he shorten the chain. the shackle when between the links, securely closing, giving OtO a great point to anchor himself with. Stepping through the chains positioning one chain above his rear, and one below OtO waited.

His plan was to let this creature slowly pull him towards the edge of the cliff, providing resistance to tire the creature out. When he is close to the edge ~15 OtO will start hurling insults at other characters, for needing leyas to help them, those cowards. Especially against Urog, he should be wearing a skirt (saying this in earther, so broken english funtimes). While this may seem distracting to others, it is to increase the oxygen in his system to pull back this creature. When he is ~8 feet away, the moment there is a little slack, OtO will pull with all his strength for 3 strides, pulling the creature. He will then set himself for the counter pull, and when the creature stops applying preassure, he will pull again. This will repeat until he pulls back to a good solid place to stand and hold his ground. The next step is to pull the creature up by twisting and using his elbows to catch the chain. This will also be done usings the short sprint and hold method, until he pulls up whatever is down there.

When this is over, OtO will use this oppertunity to gather information about delure the nomad.
(Sorry this is not in story form)
