Goblin Lands 2 Heroic Mission WEEK 16: To See the Star

#1

Krodnok is gathering together a team of skilled Mercs for the most professional sort of quiet infiltraition and recon of the Falling Star Homeforge. His representatives have not shared why the rising Godhead of the Krodnok faith would want floor plans of the K’iou settlement.
Some more angry Olgogs have whispered it is to take revenge for the years of neglect and isolationism that the K’iou have treated the native inhabitants of the southern lands during the Great Yyan War, the K’ias Wars and the Earther Atrocity (Goblin Genocide). Others say it is so he can spread his new faith among the Children of the Falosini.
Whatever the upstart Godhead’s reasons, he hasn’t asked for any violence or disabling of the Falling Star Homeforge’s defenses.

Instead his commands are to enter the subterrainian city, pass its guards without raising alarms, and bring back detailed maps.

Mission Rules
First player to post gets a repost when all other players have finished posting to the mission in response to all other actions.
All other players may only make 1 posting.
Other players may only act as if they have seen the action of the first player who posts.
All other actions are compressed together by the DR team with a focus on storyline, so do not worry about paradoxes between different action posts.
Not every aspect of every action will be shown. This is especially true of actions that exceed two paragraphs.

Special Challenges: The city center of the Falling Star Homeforge is split into four major sections (for this mission).

  1. The Mercantile Exchanges (where caravan leaders and other foreign reps trade goods for the precious metals, tools and armor created here). It is busy all day and night, with crowds of young K’iou roving around.
  2. The Mining Tunnels (extending out for miles in all directions, going both deep and dark). It is dark and quiet, footsteps echo giving away positions. The K’iou will instantly be alerted by tunneling using the Leyas or other methods in this section. Very easy to get lost.
  3. The Commons (a group of large underground halls where the K’iou gather for social events). Here are the locations of the Temple of Falos in the Falling Star, and all energy bridges to their reinforcements on other dimensions.
  4. The Forbidden Armory of the MagAuf ( a section of trapped halls where the weapons built by the MagAuf and traded to the K’iou are held). Pit traps, crushing stones, spike traps, acid traps, poison dart launchers, and pits full of Nightmares.

General Challenges: Entrances to any of the four sections are warded against Light, Shadow, Fire and Earth (wards cannot be stopped). Each entrance is guarded by team of four K’iou Greslarion (Homeforge guardians, F.S. 7, attacks 4, Earth 4, Fire 4, General 2. Armed with K’iou Mining Mail & Forgemaster Hammers). Patrols of 3 Greslarion are also common in all regions.

You must in your post pick one (1) section of the city to map. You must figure out a plan that will get you in, past the K’iou, and deal with the specific challenge of that section.

Open to all tribes and all mercs

All tribes are limited to 1 Standard Tribal or 1 youth or 1 Elder.

Krodnok is limited to 1 subordinate tribe member as a direct agent for this mission (cannot be Krodnok himself).

This mission ends on Friday 14th February at 8.PM. E.S.T.

Come to Krodnok’s temple in Simonsburg for the planning session.

Glog new that such a job was dangerus, but he just could not resist sutch a challange. Even though his favored leyas was warded agenst he chose to use the remaining leyas to hide from view. He was a little pissed because of the lack of shadow leyas. He left his bag with the tribe just so that there was no chance they could track him.

His years of hunting gave him a little help as he mapped the Forbbiden Armory. The fact that he could use shapshifting to sight traps before he came upon them might have something to do with it also. And hiding from gaurds is easy when you can use your claws to climb across the ceiling where most gaurds forget to look. Once he gets past the guards and has mapped that area he will grab a weapon that he can see won’t kill him the second it touches his hand, uses Shadow, Air, or Water Leyas, and that he can carry without it effecting his hands as he leaves.

Goal: Main goal is to map out the Exchange and learn the people there. Also a second plus would be setting up a trade deal with the homeforge. If the trade deal fails Lurtor may go for more information on the commons and/or mining tunnels. Though if a trade deal is sucessful, Lurtor will not chance ruining it.

Lurtor ((VLAD Agent) LR:4, Heal:1, Light: 3, Shadow:3, Air:2, Earth:2, Water:2, General:2, Shape:3, Troub:4) Adj: (Charisma (+4 Item))

Equipment:

[ul]
[li]Marzac Body Armor, Necklace with Life Shield (3 Succ), Necklace of Protective Aura, and a Fireproof trench Coat. Goggles of Night sight.[/li][li]Fireball ring, Ring of Tunneling Ring of Healing (Cure Disease, Heal Internal Damage, Cure Poison (3 succ), Bracer of Acid Cone (In Bag), Earring of Charisma +4, Ear Ring of Translate[/li][li]VLAD Phoenix Strike Pistol, Skull Crusher Magi Pistol, Combat Knife (Shieldbreak 6 success),Paladin Sword. , Sonic Grenades (4), Gloves of Wave Motion Fist.[/li][li]In a box, a Control crystal, and a Levi Crystal. Not embedded yet. (This is if he decided to go down the mining tunnels)[/li][/ul]

Lurtor was looking into the mirror prepping for his new mission. He was slowing adjusting his facial features to be that of Lurtor that those here know. He did this by using his shapeshifting leyas to adjust his features like, shortening his facial fur, the size of his Snout and teeth. He practices these combinations for when he has to disguise himself as an earther. Some days he’s not even sure he knows what he originally looked like as he’s changed his appearance so many times. His time in the goblin lands has been the longest he’s kept a face in a while. His time with VLAD gave him plenty of reasons to practice this.

When talking to Lalder about the Falling star and mercs trying to map it, they agreed that it giving a map wasn’t every important, but knowing why and who was there is. Also this brought up that Lalder’s tribe could try and trade directly with the K’iou. With so many artificers, this was an opportunity to try and open up the K’iou to the Olgogs more. Last year was a start with the opening of the trade sites, but to trade in their market place, or trade directly is the next step.

Lurtor had an idea. The K’iou mining caverns had to be large and vast, and the skimmers could be adjusted to help them cart the minerals around. And this might be his way in and both setup trade and to have a look around. Though at the moment, he had no plans of sharing this information outside of Lalder.

Lurtor would take a civ skimmer with a few samples of Artificed items and weapons down to the Falling Star Homeforge Mercantile Exchanges. From here first, he looks around at the goods and arms being sold in the exchange. At the moment with none of his shields or illusions up, he will check out any Zela weapons and even trade for one if possible. Also, Lurtor will trade for K’iou styled armor, trading Olgog plate. While Lurtor is wandering around, he will look at K’iou, earthers, and others memorizing faces. Taking into account anyone who seems to have freedom of movement or power. Remembering their voices.

Once he has an idea of what is traded here, he will approach a K’iou who looks in charge of the exchange.

Lurtor will say “My name is Lurtor and I’m representing an Olgog tribe who specializes in Artificing. Artificing vehicles, tools, armors, and weapons. We are looking to build items for trade with the Homeforge. Like our skimmers here, which could haul items up and down your mining caves. The skimmers can even hold a leyas shield to protect its cargo.”
Lurtor will apply a Protective Aura to the skimmer to demonstrate.

Lurtor will continue “Now I’ve never seen the mining caves, but if the skimmers size is too big or small, that can be adjusted. Also, with the addition of move Levi stones, we can make them carry more. Also, we can artifice most leyas abilities.”

Depending on the response. If positive, Lurtor will ask to see if he can see a tunnel, so he can bring back the information into the requested skimmers/items.

If the K’iou do not show interest, Lurtor will move around to others, see if there is any business there.

Either way he has a valid reason to check out most of the Exchange and he is there for valid reasons which will ring true if questioned. Lurtor will take the information, faces, voices, and who’s who for later use.

If Lurtor is disrespected or dismissed quickly:
Lurtor will leave and return make himself look like a K’iou through the combination of Shapeshifting and Alter self from Troubadour. Making his cloths look like one of middle level importance. Allowing him to walk through checkpoints. Lurtor will check out the commons area as well, acting like he belongs. Also modifying his voice to the correct range for K’iou. At this point, he will be careful to avoid touching any Zela, as it would drop his Alter form.

On him, he has a board, control crystal, and a levi crystal. If Lurtor finds himself in empty tunnels where making a sound would give himself away, he’ll use the board to fly near the ceiling without making a noise. Using wilderness Camo to blend into the ceiling of the tunnel.

(OOC I don’t know if Lurtor knows High Falos, Lalder does. So I put a earring of translate on him just in case)

Vektor chose Dreggs to go on the mission with Derlur. Hee did, afterall, have to play his part of the bargain. The censor-craft would take them, drop them off, and wait until Dreggs called the craft on her comm crystal. Ferrou would be leading them on their expedition, according to the plan, because she would be their guide. He hated this idea, but a deal was a deal. Hopefully, Dreggs wouldn’t mess up or cause any problems. She had proven herself reliable in the Balgog incident, helpful in saving the olgog pups. Plus, of all the tribals, she had the most useful set of skills.

Dreggs would follow Ferrou’s orders, and map whatever section Ferrou told her, in whatever way Ferrou saw fit. Dreggs wasn’t a mapmaker, but then again, nobody in the gang was. When they were done, Dreggs would give the map to Ferrou and be done with it. As an added help, she took with her the Burial Cloak of 7756 and a stone of create water. If she gets “caught” she can always claim she wanted to make a trade (and then be escorted out, if need be).

Getting in: That would be Ferrou’s job. If needed, Dreggs could summon creatures (Summon 1) to distract guards to sneak in. Swarm, growling, or cantrip… whichever would be most useful. Her first instinct would be to summon the cantrip, as it would do the least actual harm, be the most annoying, and probably provide the most distraction. Otherwise, do the task and be done with it, calling for a pick-up when it was done.

Post -Edit: Forgot to mention stats
Female - LR 2, Conscious, water 2, troub 2, Shapeshift 1, Summon 1, Heal 1, no other obvious weapons or armor.

Ferrou would bring any of Vektor’s allies (anyone in the UTR or UTD, however they call themselves) along. Other than the Shield of the Redeemer, no Dead allowed.

She would first say to Dreggs, only when alone, “You’re not actually going to be mapping anything. We’re going to trade for an old map of the mines. I have some of their currency. You’ll then use it to copy a map over. You won’t be leaving the Merchant Exchange. Map as much of that as you can see. I’ll come get you when I’m done with my part of the mission. I’ll do the trade for you, all you have to do is copy it. I don’t want you getting lost in the mines. Vektor will kill me if I do. Plus, I don’t want you doing it alone anyway, and I don’t think there’ll be enough bodies here to help. Also, don’t freak out if you can’t see my face. I have old enemies at the Home Forge and I don’t want to be seen.”

To everyone else gathered, if anyone else shows up::
“Ok, so I’m going to have permission to enter the Home Forge, and all of you may enter with me. When you’re done, meet with Dreggs here at the landing site, and we can leave together.”

When they set out, land about 30 min away, as to not immediately bring an army upon them. If they get “picked up” by patrols, Ferrou would speak to them in either Common or High Falos, whichever is more appropriate. Ferrou would say that they were making their way to the Home Forge as guests to “take a look around.” If pressed, she would name drop “Aori Steel Smile” and allude to trades. Ferrou had some ghaz, and would show it accordingly to prove they were there to trade.

There would be only one meeting place, and they had 24 hours to make it back. Otherwise, they would leave and be on their own.

As an added precaution, once inside the tunnels, she would take extra time to hide her face in a cowl/scarf combination. She would go with Dreggs to the Merchant Exchange, buy (using ghaz) some old maps of the tunnels and clean mapping materials. She would then buy Dreggs a drink at a pub, and tell the bar keep to give her non-alcohol drinks as she saw fit, as well as all the food she wanted. Pay the upfront price in ghaz, offering to leave a tip when she came back. Ferrou would then leave Dreggs to make a map.

In the mean time, Ferrou would make her way to the Commons. If unrecognized, she would say, in High Falos, that she was making her way to the temple. If harassed, thought doubtful, she would espouse the tenets of the Church of Falos, proving her to her word. If that didn’t work, she would reveal a religious symbol that would (a pendant would do, not any ritual tattooing/markings). She would look around the temples, through the tunnels, and make mental notes. She would then map them out when she had a chance (at a nearby pub?). She’d also use Leyas sight to see what portals went where. As she mapped, she’d do the basics right (e.g. where to find the temple), but the details wrong (what portals are where). When she was done, she’d go back and get Dreggs. When she knew everyone else was out, and they had called for back-up, she’d use the crystal that Aori gave her to indicate the same.

When arrived back in Brez, Ferrou would give the maps to Dertla, who would make the trek to Lotara’s keep and negotiate.

Grim, after hearing about the job, decide that it just was something he was interested in. ‘yeah, the challenge might be nice, but he wasn’t gonna work for any stinking minion of Warmonger, no matter how much they say they don’t serve him anymore,’ he thought. 'On the other hand, this would be a good chance to see who down here thought that they were up to his level as an operator. As one of his instructors used to say “Knowledge is power. If you know what your enemy can do and they have no clue about you, then they will be in for a surprise not you.”

Grim traveled openly to the homeforge. He had not been to the Falling star forge in a long time, it would be nice to stop and see if his old friend Glinta Hammerfall still ran a tavern in the marketplace. If it was still in the same place, it should make for an excellent place to watch the antics of those trying to map the forge.

Afterwords, he would report on anyone who showed special promise. Some day these folks might come in handy.

(OOC, sorry B, just got logged out as i went to post)

Being that it IS his name, hearing that there was a SCOUTing mission to the Falling Star Homeforge even caught the attention of Scout. He didn’t have very much of the information, but he was sold at scouting and forbidden. The plan was going to be simple, to walk right in the entrance. Scout approached the four K’iou Greslarion, “I have come here on a mission of the utmost importance, it is super secretive if the information gets into the wrong hands. I am here behalf the proven k’iou hero Forge who has become grumpy and jaded, while I am out and about taking care of things in my own life. He has done so much for the people and Tsoga of Leste’stral and Refuge, I am trying to find a way of repaying him. I am here to find possible suitors, or worthy gorgeous female prospects. I will be holding interviews over in the Commons, to try and find the best fit for my buddy. Yes, yes I’m doing what any exceptional bastard wingman would do.”

So, being that there is no real time restraint for Scout, he will hit up the Commons and literally do what he told the guards, for some time. “Oh wow that’s really interesting. I’m glad you were able to get rid of those small warts. I find that my dog really does like getting dressed up in K’iou made armor better than K’iorn made armor, and he always likes to have his belly rubbed. Oh wait, I’ll be right back I forgot something over in the Mercantile Exchange.” At that point he will “get lost,” and using all his stealthy skills and especially his personal deluxe thieves kit to check out what’s actually in the forbidden armory. He’ll make up a crude map in code just for his own personal knowledge by using his Falosini painter’s kit, not actually giving out that sort of important information. He’s just here to see that’s he could get into the Forbidden Armory, not actually taking any job- just for Scout’s fun. And like that, poof he’s gone.

(Ooc: sorry for posting late. i wasn’t able to get to my computer until now…)

Lotara smiled. The word had spread that her father wanted floor plans to the Falling Star Homeforge, and people has shown up to assist. Soon, they would have what she had asked for. And then, they would give the plans to her. And then her father would have the plans.

She watched as the hired help departed for the Homeforge. She had done her part. Now she had to wait.

All Lotara would do, really, is sit and wait. Once the mission is completed, and the participants give her the maps, she would return to the lab.

Zh Hob’rhug and Zh’gul Took would go along with with the entry plans. They would do a reasonable amount of shopping, mapping the area through the different booths and wares of the district. They would inquire about how zela was mined, from where and different processes. They would check to see prices, different deals and features of vendors in the area.
Later when/if asked about mapping they would be able to tell about the mercantile exchange through their shopping experience. Nothing really out of the ordinary, or all that special for the mission, just trying to achieve goals of the tribe.

Happy Valentine’s Day from the Yagogi, wife and kids.
