Karov: Camp Cleansing Fire

#1

The Ka Rhug have set up Camp Cleansing Fire deep in Yagogi territory for the purpose of countering the plague. It seems to have some deeper religious significance to those there, than the Yagogi understand.

The place smells terrible, like a charnel house. And the sulfur stench of the Black Legion of Kalok permeats the air.

[open to all Olgogs especially Yagogial and Kolgol]

Troop Movements:

((Back to Ka’Rhug))

 • Kolgol
 • 10 Legionaries
 • 2 Hellhounds
 • 1 Balgog

((Moved to the Camp))

 • Uth’lal
 • 15 Apprentice Kalokgogs
 • 1 air skimmer (Created by Ka’Rhug)

Constructions and Operations:

Firstly, Purify Air will be used to improve the stench of the place and give credence to it’s healing intentions. Tunnel Materials will be used to create a large network of tunnels and underground chambers with which to store troops and supplies. Stone and earth quarried from these excavations will be used to improve the walls and structures above-ground. Most of the new arrivals will be moved into these underground barracks to maintain the illusion that only a skeleton crew remains to garrison the fort. Patrols will be reduced to 2 groups of 3 legionnaires and a hellhound who will patrol within a smaller radius around the camp. Treatment and aid of the diseased olgogs will remain the apparent main goal of the camp, even as the work beneath the ground continues.

Zhgog’ol Maklur had an important day ahead of him, so he met with his totem tribal students to work with each of them before embarking on this journey to meet with an “ally.” He spoke of his daughters overenthusiastic abrasive attitude toward those that broke into their lands. This was something which perfectly aligned with her chosen totem of mighty yadol and why they were leaving her behind in her tent. On this day each would chose a different totem to commune with (Zhgog’ol with RAGHA, Onigor with GROWLING, Der’ LooDol with ONTOR, and Ol’ Yyangog with ravenous kolgul)

Afterwards, Zhgog’ol Maklur, and a group of various tribals approached the Kolgol camp within their tribes hunting grounds. The group consisted of 4 Mak’abs (Ur’na Lok, Og’ Kol, Kol Yi,mis and Kalok Dol), 3 tribals (Onigor, Der’ LooDol and Ol’ Yyangog), 5 juveniles (Gor’ Lallur, Tun’Dra playing with a pet snatcher, Or’on Der’na, Gor Ime’gor and Magi’tor) and finally 3 Kingz (Ramm, Cougar and Thumpa). It was definitely an imposing force, but they wanted to make sure that there was no wrongdoing that came with the entrance of Kolgol, for all they knew Kolgol was in these hunting grounds plotting against the GulTor’Uf.

Zhgog’ol approached in a different manner than his daughter, one that stepped with wisdom who spoke softly but carried a big stick. As he approached, he called out for a messenger, “I am Zhgog’ol Maklur, Uhryu of the venerable Tribes of Yagogi’al the Og ab. We would like to thank you for your assistance in dealing with the sickness that have been spreading throughout Karov but they have brought two matters to our attention. The first is on our part that I wish to apologize for the rash behavior of my own cub, coming before you on this very spot and shouting threats at an ally. The second part is on you that you enter our lands, moving in on our territory and without of knowledge of what you intend. As a fellow member of the UtR, this was completely disrespectful and show you as you truly are, the honorable Kolgul. With recent proceedings, I hope to repair any slights that have been made towards each others tribes and this will be your first step down that path. As tribe Uhryu and for how things went down, I am demanding that we inspect your campgrounds and address any further matters before things get any more out of paw. The only things keeping our tribe from outright attacking has been the words vouching for you from Lalder and the Or’Lur Tribe, and unfortunately their words currently do not hold up as they once did. We await a tour of the entire facility.”

(Meanwhile, Or’Tor and 6 Mak’abs are in the Shamanic tent of Mighty Yadol, doing as the totem spirit would to protect their territoy, so they are secretly sending in their cantrip familiars posing as naturally occurring animals like ravenous kolgul, raiti, talon bat and maybe even a snatcher or two to Mt. Ka’ rhug to gather intel.)

Ab’tla’rhug paced under the sun at the spot that Hindengog #3 would land near to pick him up. The air was hot, which wasn’t comfortable and he looked forward to leaving the desert, or at least to getting back within the cooler stone buildings the Ka’rhug had set up within their camp. It was a comfrotable stay at least, made more comfortable due to his being from a tribe closely allied with the Ka’rhug, the Rhug’na’ru. He didn’t want to be the diplomat this time around, but he made due. Nobody wanted to see the big three get sick or die in some plague, so he was glad to be of service to Olav. It was then that he heard the strong, yet undeniably overly diplomatic, voice that called to the Ka’rhugs by their leader’s name. As they spoke he heard the low murmuring of engines high above him as two Hindengogs, numbers 3 and 9, lower down over the camp. One lowered further and, after a rope was thrown out, two olgogs climbed down into the camp.

Ab’tla’rhug opened his arms in greeting to his fellow tribesmen, Tla’hob and Gra. They both returned the greeting. Ab’tla’rhug spoke to Gra “My brothers, it is good to see you so far from home. How was the trip here?” Gra shrugged, wiping a bead of sweat from his brow. “It was certainly cooler up there than on the ground. I trust all is going well here?” Ab’tla’rhug nodded, but then then the voice from earlier was heard, his focus moving away from the airships as he began to listen once again. Tla’hob’s eyes narrowed and he crossed his arms in question. Gra looked at Ab’tla’rhug, a smirk on his face. “Did you anger the locals or something?” Ab’tla’rhug shrugged, looking off toward the Ka’rhugians. “You arrived as the voice started talking, did you see anything?”

Both shook their heads, then Gra jabbed his thumb up at the waiting airships. “Nothing from up there, wasn’t really looking, mind you.” Ab’tla’rhug looked at the two airships, eyeing # 9’s plane hooked to the bottom. “Why two? I’m not that important.” Gra laughed, patting his friend on the shoulder. “Right you are, just a new policy put in place by Captain Reshed: no ship flies alone. No good getting out-flanked.” Tla’hob walked back to the ships, pulling himself up the rope. Gra frowned as he looked around the camp, remembering the words outside. “Maybe it would be best to stay here for the time being. If these locals plan to attack, we are prepared to defend. And if they don’t, its always good to extend our hand to others in the UTR.” He fanned his face, Ab’tla’rhug smirked. “even if they live in such a hot place.” Gra grumbled, both of them heading back to the airships.

((For the purposes of this discussion, since narrator has not commented on my constructions, I will assume that my troop transfer is complete, but the tunnels and walls are not.))

Uth’lal the Tor’og stepped out of a building inside the camp and looked curiously at the group approaching the gates. He was dressed in legionary armor, with an armorfiend cloak over it emblazoned with a black hand on a red field. One proficient in legion markings would know this represented his specialization in stealth and assassination work. However, these trainings did not prepare him for the job that Kolgol had assigned him to. He sighed as he heard the Yagogi tribal’s prelude to what would be a long list of complaints no doubt, and knew there would have to be a discussion.

“Such an entitled lot these locals are.” He thought to himself as he strode towards the gates.

Two legionaries moved to block the approaching tribals, but Uth’lal waved them away, and they returned to their posts. He nodded at the Rhug’na’ru tribals, who were present with their fearsome skycraft. He was glad for their company in case this went bad.

He greeted the arrivals with the same monotone introduction he always did when people tried to barge into their camp.

“If you are seeking our leader Kolgol, he has left for our home already. However, I am equally as qualified to speak for our tribe, so I shall do so. If you have something that you need, or are suffering plague, please step to the processing hut so that you can be categorized and assigned to a shelter.”

“If you come on UTR or Lur Union business, please present proof of your alignment so that we can verify your authenticity. Unauthorized or civilian access to this base is strictly prohibited under the grounds of UTR policy, and will be punished in accordance with the conventions of standing UTR law.”

“Thank you for coming, and have a nice day sirs.”

Zhgog’ol Maklur took in a nice deep breathe, thinking of the beating this insolent whelp was deserving of. These were his tribal hunting grounds that Kolgol had inserted themselves into albeit to attempt to stop with the spread of sickness, but at the same time disrupting the natural flow of the environment and hunting. He looked around at the faces of those that came along with him and could feel the a touch of rage for the ignorant response he received.

He began, “Ok then, that’s all well and good but I don’t have time to waste with a pup like you. I realize this must be unfathomable for your highly sophisticated cave society where you come from, but we don’t need to be dealing with the red tape since you’re infringing on our land. Did you just walk into the lands commonly known as the Yagogi hunting grounds thinking that this would be alright , you’re either an opportunist or a fraking moron? I am one of the elders of the tribe, I am the one making the orders here, my demands. MY TERRITORY, MY OLGOGS and MY LAWS. I’m done of hearing patronizing talk of policy, so now I want you to get little Kolgol back here, RIGHT NOW. It’s nice and simple, I’m sure even you can handle that.”

#7

Uth’lal raised an eyebrow at the olgog’s derogatory manner. He was going to have some fun toying with this one.

“I am truly sorry sir, but that will not be possible. Kolgol has more pressing matters to attend to at the moment. However, If you will consent to leave your war band here, I will personally take you to our capitol via our camp skimmer, and you can speak to our entire council of you like.”

“Also, as both of our tribes are both proud members of the UTR, we should become less territorial. This base helps to make your lands more safe and free of crime, so I fear that I can’t view this as an unwelcome intrusion. There is no ulterior motive to our actions, and I am sorry that we have come across in this manner.”

#8

Zhgog’ol noticed the chance to the attitude, he wondered whether the sentiment was true or was this just a front. Regardless, he had no idea of who this gog was and what was actually going on within the camp.

“Listen here, and listen good. I have no idea of who I am speaking to, I would think that Kolgol himself for have great respect and honor for another proud member of the UtR. But for all I know, this is Kolgol himself acting in cowardice for an error in judgement and that would be greatly disappointing. I have heard of the honor that Kolgol brings with him, and so far I am not impressed. I have no desire to be taken from my own lands when the matter at hand is concerning what is going on within our hunting grounds. Matters don’t seem to concern you all that much so what is so important? Where is Kolgol off to?
Truthfully, I thank you for being proactive, responsibly purifying the air and cleaning up after yourself. I wish to know your name and whatever ranks you hold. Would it not matter to you what happens in your own lands, you do not truly know what you ask and this shows inexperience on your part. We have no idea of what is going on in this base, so we will be the ones determining if you are acting with ulterior motives and if you are truly an intrusion or not. As a fellow UtR member, there should be now hesitation of inviting us in for a look. Have word sent that we wish to meet with Kolgol here, and we will be shown through the facility by you.”

#9

Uth’lal stood at attention, his array of knives and blades clacking against his armor.

“I am Tor’og Uth’lal, commanding officer of Kalok’s shadow, stealth and reconnaissance specialists. In terms of rank, I am the fourth gog that leadership would fall to in our tribe. I have led assaults on the Isle of Holys, freed prisoners of war from Church of One death camps, and served in the attack on the isle of Mag’Buskt. I have been selected for the task of leading this camp for my exceptional patience, mainly in dealing with the menial tasks that we are forced to deal with every day here.”

“Kolgol has been called away to defend our own lands, the Mag Daron have become a problem that he must deal with directly. So you can either wait for him to finish that business, or I will take you to him in our skimmer.”

“Alternatively, you can take a tour of the camp given by myself, however your party must remain here, as you are the only one qualified to enter. The choice is yours.”

#10

Zhgog’ol’s tone tensed at the mention of Mag Daron,“Kolgol is away for just cause. The Yagogi understand the pressures and impact that this enemy places on all of the UtR. This maybe another common thread that we work together. Officer Uth’lal, specifically what are the qualifications for entrance into the compound?”

There was however one more questions that Zhgog’ol thought to himself about, what is the purpose of sending in a stealth and reconnaissance specialist into the area? What is going on that called for this sort of action, the questions would have to wait for a better time.

#11

Uth’lal relaxed, relieved that the Yagogi understood the gravity of the problem.

“The qualifications for entering is that one must be a leading member of a tribe associated with the UTR, for you Karovians it would be an Uhryu or other highly respected member. Lesser ranks are more likely to be…tainted…by our enemies. It is vital that the Mag Der’al do not gain access to our base. No disrespect is meant, but by taking these precautions we avoid disaster.”

#12

Zhgog’ol had the thought that now there were getting somewhere.
He spoke earnestly, “Ok, so now we have an understanding to be working from. It is clear that desperate times call for desperate measures, and this is absolutely one of those times. I thank you for speaking honestly Uth’lal, and by your own qualifications I have myself as well as seven others that meet those parameters. I have no need to bring everyone, in fact I would rather have them waiting out with some of your own gogs. In this case, I would ask that our party is five large, being myself, 3 more elders and the cub that is my charge (being Zhgog’ol Maklur, Ur’na lok, Ramm, Der’ LooDol and finally Tun’Dra). My gogs will stay behind with some of yours, and I assure you they will do their best to provide protection and assistance if there are needs. I believe this would be just, and is a reasonable compromise.”

#13

Uth’lal nodded.

“That is satisfactory. If you will follow me, we shall get underway.”

Uth’lal proceeded to guide the Yagogi around the camp, pointing out points of interest. The guard barracks, the plague treatment huts, the storage sheds and all that came with it. He pointed out the rows of dead behind the camp, neatly aligned with woven blankets covering them. Small carved bone tokens lay on their chests inscribed with the name they had given during processing. These were of course, the ones that could not be saved by their healing, and did not follow Kalok, and were thus stored here until family came to claim the bodies.

Next came the underground portion, starting with Kalok’s shrine, a stone room large enough for 15 olgogs at most. A small molten pit was in the corner of the room, as well as some religious icons painted on the walls and floors. He paused here, waiting for any questions.

#14

At each point of interest that Uth’lal brought the group to, Der’ LooDol having communed with the spirit of Ontor, would stay a little longer inspecting the area with the gift of vision and perception granted by the chosen spirit. Taking note of foot traffic passing through, specific odd prints, supposed secret areas and signs of struggles or wrong doing. Uth’lal seemed pretty straightforward at this point, but then why the need for the initial run-around? Zhgog’ol thought as he saw the rows of dead neatly aligned that maybe they could find out who they were, how they became ill or if they were infected by Mag Der’al. He would mention, “If one of the gor’abs were brought back here, they should be able to find out answers to some of these questions by using an ability they possess known as FLESH AND SPIRIT DWELLER, where they can speak with the dead. This should be able to provide answers for you.”

They continued on their tour into the underground portion. Once there, Zhgog’ol and group checked around. His expression changed to fit more serious matters, "With all that has been going on as of recent, we are trying to find out ways of tracking the Mag Der’al without killing off their hosts. I have heard tales that your tribe was able to purge them within, have you had any success in finding out who they possess? These are grave times indeed and I respect that Kolgol has important matters to be taking care of. With you being here, I was hoping that you might be able to offer a gift and train a young one with the ways of the Aufgogs, more specifically I assume it would be the ways of the Kalokgogs?

While the adults are talking of important things, the cub is getting into some trouble as almost fittingly the cub’s snatcher gets out of his grasp. Tun’Dra, the cub will proceed to chase down the snatcher around the room careful not to knock anything over or bump into anything, giving the snatcher a good view of what is going on around there before he can scoop the pet back up. Tun’Dra will look back to Uth’lal, “I am sorry, I do not mean any disrespect to your sacred shrine. He just got away from me for a second.” Zhgog’ol would continue, “The cub knows respect, and you could see he definitely could use some more fine tuning. Would this be possible?”

#15

Uth’lal glanced at Zhgog’ol appraisingly.

“Do as you wish with those bodies, they are of no concern to us now. Without the means to purge the disease, we cannot resurrect them, nor would we if we could. If you wish to do so, I will not stop you, but do not do it in the vicinity of the shrine please.”

He thought for a moment about the second question.

“We could…work something out. Although I am not suited to teach what you request, unless you wish him to become a gog who stalks in the shadows. We do however, have several kalokgogs on hand who are apprentice aufgogs who could do this. Him perhaps.”

He turned to the kalokgog that stood by the door and gestured at him. He was an olgog of average build, clad in the bone and leather plate mail that most of Ka’Rhug preferred, but wore a crude wooden mask instead of a helm. His braided green tufts of hair covered his face as he bowed low.

“I am called Zh’og’na, and I can teach him what I know.”

#16

OOC: I’m looking to learn the special trainings of protective eyelids and Aufgog in training, Kalokgog. I figured you are the one to be teaching either of there.

#17

Uth’lal nodded, waving dismissively at the kalokgog.

“Very well, he is yours for as long as it takes. I have one condition however, he must go to your tribe’s home to teach him. It will provide a good environment for our tribes to learn more about each other, and hopefully will lead to a greater trust between us. Is this acceptable to you?”

#18

Zhgog’ol could see through to the honor and respect that Uth’lal possessed, and looking back had actually enjoyed the back and forth of their time working together. He had knowledge of some of the tactics the Kolgol employed, like enslaving fire spirits to animate their Balgog creations. Working with the Kolgol, as opposed to against he might learn more into their ways and they may truly become the best of allies. The Yagogi had once believed in working with Lalder, but had showed their true colors. They participated in slave trading, working with the the Dead, feeding the Warmonger and acting like a tyrant-of course ,not to the point that GulTor’Uf took it. What a wonder having tribes work together!

“Uth’lal, I would very much like for our tribes to be able to work together and trust each other. One day, when the plagues in Karov have fully ceased I would like to invite you to stay with our tribe as well. I will take up on this offer having your Kalokgog, Zh’og’na stay with us for the duration of his teaching us. I am not sure that the cub is actually ready to receive your trainings, but we will make the most of your planned training. He will stay and be protected by the Yagogi as long has he is staying with us. Just the same, while things are still going on in Karov I will leave you with a small group of my own. Onigor, my totem tribal student will lead, with our mak’ab Og’ Kol, gor’ab Magi’tor and the King Thumpa. I do hope that this is acceptable to you.”
